My smart watch is a very useful tool in my daily life, a complement to my smartphone to check notifications, use many applications (even in autonomy) and track my physical activity and my hours of sleep.
One of the uses I give my smartwatch the most every day is to control the playback of the music I listen to. If I’m away from home and without company, I’m probably listening to music, and the quickest way to control playback is usually from my watch. But sometimes, accessing the media controls on my Galaxy Watch may be a problem.
How to Disable Default Media Control on a Galaxy Watch Screen
It’s not a problem, but may be uncomfortable: Whenever I listen to music or watch a video on my phone, the Galaxy Watch shows me the media playback controls from the moment I raise my wrist to see the watch screen. The goal is to be able to access the controls very quickly, but what if I want to see a notification, my step count for the day, or access an app?
In this case, I have to press the home button of the Galaxy Watch or perform a gesture to be able to access the main screen of the watch. As I said, it is not a serious problem, but it causes discomfort that It takes a little longer before I can do what I want.
This is an option enabled by default on Galaxy Watches. Fortunately, it is possible to disable it, and so every time we raise our wrist or turn on the watch screen we will go directly to the home screen, not to the multimedia control screen. Just follow these steps:
- On the watch we go to the settings menu (we can access it by pressing the gear in the list of applications)
- We access the Screen section
- We scroll down until we find the Media Controls option and deactivate it
As the settings menu indicates, this feature automatically displays the media controls on the watch when we play audio and video on the mobile. However, Disabling this option does not mean that we will stop accessing the media controls. We can continue to use them, and it’s really simple.
Even if we disable this shortcut to the multimedia controls, we can still access it very simply and quickly.
Every time we start listening to music on any streaming application or player on our mobile, a small icon in the shape of a musical note will appear on the watch screen. Simply tap this icon to access the media controls screen. Therefore, we can always access the playback controls quickly and easily.
