OnePlus abandons its plan to merge OxygenOS with ColorOS. For a few months, the news had been sounding that was going to put an end to the differentiation of OnePlus mobiles: its software. As Android Police collects, the Chinese company will continue with OxygenOS as ROMalthough they share a good deal of ColorOS code, as they currently do.
In this way, OnePlus phones will continue to be the ones with the cleanest ROMwhile the OPPO ROM will be more focused on offering additional functions and working more on the visual aspect in a personalized way.
OxygenOS will live on
The ColorOS and OxygenOS code looks more and more alike, and for a few months the news has been ringing: a ROM merged between the two, a hybrid with the functions of ColorOS, but with the simplicity of OxygenOS. The plan did not make much sense, since OPPO and OnePlus are not independent companies, the differential factor between the two companies remains in the software.
There will always be convergence between ROMs, as much of the code will be shared. Nevertheless, OxygenOS will always be the cleanest ROM
The plan has changed, although there will always be convergence between the ROMs. Much of the code will be unified
OxygenOS will remain the closest ROM to Android Stock, as it has been since its inception. By sharing the code with ColorOS, it gradually becomes denser, but it is still the differential ROM of OnePlus.
“Our software philosophy for OxygenOS has always been to provide users with a light and clean experience that is close to stock Android and geared towards global use. With OxygenOS 13, we want to deliver an experience that long-time OnePlus users will love.” ensuring it retains the hallmarks of OxygenOS, such as a fast and smooth experience, zero-load design, and ease of use. OxygenOS 13 will retain its unique visual design and a host of exclusive customization features.
On the other hand, ColorOS continue as before, no changes. Since Android 12 ColorOS is also a clean ROM, although it has a customized user interface and several additional functions. Great news for lovers of each brand, who will continue to have a choice depending on the phone they buy.
