Estimated smartphone sales figures for the first quarter of this year have just been released, and Apple is the only major manufacturer to increased its sales compared to the same quarter of 2021.
So what times are not the best to achieve good sales figures. Between the shortage of chips, the shutdown of Chinese factories, inflation and the uncertainty of the markets due to the invasion of Ukraine, without a doubt, achieving good sales figures is a feat.
Strategy Analytics, Canalys and IDC have released their reports on their smartphone sales estimates for the first quarter of this year. All differ in their exact calculations and estimates, but all three analysts largely agree that Apple it is the only manufacturer that experienced growth in this quarter compared to the same quarter last year.
They all explain in their reports that major smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi and several others saw a sharp decline in smartphone sales in 2022 compared to 2021.
Canalys notes that Apple grew by 8% compared to the same quarter last year, now holding 18% of the total market share. It still trails Samsung in overall market share, but the Koreans saw a 4% decline this quarter.
Strategic analysis It also reports that other Android smartphone makers, like Oppo and Vivo, saw sales declines of 29% and 30% during this first quarter of 2022.
A great merit from those of Cupertino, because with these times the most normal thing is that sales are lower than last year, because all the big brands are suffering. Apple is the only company in the sector that escapes the current crisis.
