Last month, WhatsApp added bookmarks so you could always have your most important chats at hand. Now, the app seems determined to take the concept further, letting you create custom lists with discussions and groups.
WhatsApp strives to enable us organize our discussions into lists customized in a way that reminds us a lot of Telegram folders. This is something that could already be done, more or less, in WhatsApp Business, but that in the future will be available to all users.
WhatsApp chat lists
Until recently, all WhatsApp chats were the same, but then pinned chats, filters, and most importantly, favorites came along. Favorites are basically a list of personal or group discussions which you can filter with the favorites filter, but apparently it won’t be the only one.
From the hand of WaBetaInfo, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on the custom listswhich can be configured from a new section of WhatsApp settings called “Lists”.
The setup will be very similar to Favorites, since you will be able to add any chat or group to a list, but with the big difference that you can name the list whatever you want. So you can create a list for your work colleagues, another for your childhood friends, another for your family, and another for your team of friends (for example).
So far we have seen how these lists will be created, but we still don’t know. How can we use them to filter our discussions?. It would be a nice idea if they appeared as an additional filter at the top of WhatsApp, but that hasn’t been disclosed yet. If you’ve been waiting for years for WhatsApp to let you do this, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
