Mobile devices have become one of the major forms of digital entertainment, which are popular with many users when it comes to consuming multimedia content or video games. In this field we have several games specifically designed for mobile phones, but few have been able to influence Pokémon GO.
And when we say impact, we say it in every way: not only was it a fantastic game, but we also managed to bring millions of people around the world, taking them out to play on the street. In its early days it was common to see people on the streets taking Pokémon, though slowly this thing was relaxing. Is the game dying?
Not too small …
2019, is the best year for Pokémon GO
If at this point we were asked what was the best year for Pokémon GO I think anyone would be easy to mark 2016 as an important game day developed through a partnership between Pokémon and Niantic. It's no less, and it turns out that the year of the game's release became a worldwide viral issue, making our headlines and hearts a little gamer.
As soon as the effects of civilization have fallen, many consider the game as dead, and it seems to be a common offense that if the game stops being the subject and we no longer see 300 people playing on the street, it's already dead. There is nothing beyond reality.
According to data collected by Sensor Tower, it looks like the best year for 2016 has passed, at least economically. Obviously 2019 has been a very profitable year for Pokémon GO, with revenues of $ 894 million.
This is $ 62 million more than the $ 832 the game was able to enter in 2016. However, the statistics don't give the first year enough credit, and that is because Pokémon Go arrived on the world on July 6, 2016, meaning it was only active in the first half of the year. If we calculate the daily wage, 2016 remains king.
Some interesting facts about Pokémon GO's success:
- Most of the revenue (54%) comes from Android, while 46% is left on the iPhone.
- The game has been downloaded 55 million times: Android leads with 38 million installations (69%) and 17 million installations (31%) for the iPhone.
- Judging from the first two points, we can say that the average iPhone player spends more money than the average Android player.
- The three countries that have invested more in Pokémon GO are the US (38%), Japan (32%) and Germany (6%).
Deleting all other undesirable true games
If the success of Pokémon GO is to know you a little, there is nothing to keep you in mind compared to other games in its category. The closest is Dragon Quest Walk, a game that is officially available in Japan (given its limited scope we would consider it a great success). The rest … with Jurassic World, or Harry Potter, or The Walking Dead, or Ghostbusters.
Pokémon, made for everyone …
