It was interesting to see how two seemingly crazy things happened last year, at the same time. On the other hand, it has been made common that the carriers who carry the brand of each product, at least the leading ones, touch 1000 euros, if they do not pass through it. At the same time, we have seen how the half-costly proposals have managed to become independent.
One of the leading companies in that second thing has become, of course, that since arriving in Spain it has made it clear that they want to be reference one of the most sought after variants, average quality of prices.
All the portals in its catalog claim to have a very good note in that category, but apparently not all of them work great. The company's new logo, realme x50 Pro 5G, the first one with 5G, and since we've spent a few days with him we want to tell you our opinion.

It's beautiful, but it's big and it has some weight
When I first took the realme X50 Pro 5G, the color really caught my attention. The unit they lent us, that it does not have a firmware backup so it has some changes in other languages, it's red, and I found it to be very good.
The round frame is made of metal and shows up when you touch it. It has a lighter color than the background, but it is not stagnant. On the right we have a power button and on the left two buttons of two numbers, separated, not the same piece. Their position is highly effective, informed along with major mobile ergonomics.
At the top edge is the sound of canceling the microphone and below is a USB C charger, one of the speakers, a headphone microphone and a SIM slot.
The camera filling in the upper left corner, as well as the second speaker, held in the upper frame, is quite impressive.
And speaking of frames, we have to draw attention to the fact that the frames of this phone, the edge of the screen, aren't thicker than expected. Not a problem, but it gives us the feeling of being a low-end mobile phone. It's one of the details I mentioned compared to the OnePlus 7T and Galaxy S10 Lite, and in fact this seems to be a step less than two, though when we put it aside it has features that are very similar to the 7T.
The other thing I was not pleased with was the weight. Its 207 grams is too high
The beast works
The realme X50 Pro 5G is the first cellphone of the future Snapdragon 865, the latest processor for Qualcomm. It is also the first model I can test for this processor and I have to say the performance is outstanding. However, to be honest with the truth the difference is no difference compared to the 855, although we will have to wait a bit for the developers to express their full potential.
You have really taken the house out of the table in this model and given it no less 12 GB of RAM with LPDDR5 technology, which is widely available today on mobile devices. Of course, the unit we tested is the one with 8 GB again 256 GB Use UFS 3.0 technology and it shows a lot when installing games. It's a mid-size version as the low has 6 GB and half of the internal memory that this differs.
Of course, we forget memory can expand as the two slides we have are SIM cards.
Using a cell phone we can always see that the operation always shows the appropriate power in the top range. Games, most demanding apps, everything goes fast, opens fast and gives no problems.
Even the temperature is controlled a cleaning system which allows it not to disturb the hand even if it has reduced it. To test this, I installed an app that allows the battery to be drained, which results in different cell parameters. For example, raise the brightness of the screen to the top, processor cores to 100%, turn on the LED flash … even in that case the output heat, which was unknown, did not go too high until you wanted to remove the cellphone.
We tried to run the simulation tests but using the uncertain version of the program (reminding you that the software is not the last one) we couldn't install it easily. We also tried installing these apps with APKs but the application did not allow it.
The communication It's pretty cool. We could not test Wifi 6 because we do not have a compatible router, but on a network where we regularly do tests we have reached 540 mbps downloads and 480 mbps downloads and we have rarely seen that.
We cannot ignore here the presence of a 5G modem, which allows us to connect to these networks, even though in Spain the coverage areas are still small.
He fingerprint sensors It's one of the fastest we've seen, and it can be used alone or in combination with face unlocking, which gives this model a plus of security. The only drawback is that it does not appear on the external display when it is turned off, even if we select it in settings. We understand that it is a small software and that it will be fixed.
What made me slow down a bit is that the sound This model has two speakers, one main near the charger and one second on the upper front panel. However, at the moment of truth this second speaker is not as strong as I expected. For example away from other models such as the OnePlus 7T.
Large screen
The realme X50 Pro arrived a few weeks ago with a 120 Hz screen, but with LCD technology. The manufacturer wanted to use the panel OLED to my older brother and that has resulted in a high amount of rehabilitation going down 90 Hz. Currently the only mobile we have seen with OLED and 120 Hz panels is the Gallery S20.
One of the best things is that the realme interface allows us to customize the refresh rate at 60 Hz, 90 Hz but we can also choose the option you choose wisely, depending on what we do. This is something we have asked for other mobile analytics tools that have this function and it's good to see that it is really being considered.
Of course, we're talking about all the FHD + resolution panel sessions, especially 2400 x 1080 px, so we forget about over-resolution, even though it's not something that seems like a problem.
Of course, surprisingly, I've noticed that even though the OLED panel didn't have the adjustment to suggest a certain fill. There are two ways to prepare a screen, Intense or Soft. The amazing thing is that the more powerful P3 mode, the same as the OnePlus 7T is the soft one.
Personally I use it and it's my favorite, but when I wanted the colors that were really impressive and very impressive, as some people do, I couldn't put it. Compatibility with HDR10 + content is appreciated, something we see in other models, but only at more expensive facilities.
Exteriors are perfect, over 1000 feet wide, and even on the beach we were able to use it without any problems (yes, in Andalusia we go to sea in February, the heat starts).
Six cameras, and some issues
When analyzing the realme X2 and X2 Pro we were able to see that even though they are very compact, their cameras reacted well. With the realme X50 Pro 5G we have increased the price which is why we have raised expectations.
As for the number of cameras we have no complaint. The front and back pairs cover the entire set of possible scenarios.
- Rear cameras:
- Main: 64 Mpx 26mm, FOV 78.6 °, f / 1.8, 6P.
- Ultra Wide angle and macro: 8 Mpx 15.7mm, FOV 119 °, f / 2.3, 5P lens, 3cm focus.
- Zoom: 12 Mpx 54.08mm, f / 2,5, hybrid zoom x20, optical zoom x2.
- Monochrome sensor: 2 Mpx FOV 88.8 °, f / 2.4.
- Front cameras:
- Main 32 Mpx FOV 80.4 °, f / 2,5.
- Ultra Wide-angle 8 Mpx FOV 105 °, f / 2.2, 5P.
The front cameras They provide two points of view, one normal and amplified thanks to a wide angle.
The quality of the day is good and the work of the Software is greatly appreciated when we use a wide angle, avoiding the surface that sits on the outer surfaces of the image is simply too large.
But there are two problems. The first is that in photos where the light is behind us the software, HDR, cannot compensate for the clarity and burn the background.
The second one comes with low light. And I'm not talking tonight, I'm talking about household pictures. Here the information is damaged by too much noise, especially by the wide angle, and unless we use a display mode (only available with a standard sensor), we will have a much larger image.
I was expecting a better result in this case, especially since the phone has a selfie mode specifically designed for these situations, but at least in our case the result is good.
It is likely that this has been shut down by software updates and, as we mentioned, the system has never used the latest version which will reach stores.
The rear cameras They have the expected senses without exception. Instead of the normally expanding macro sensor (although the wide angle works like a macro sensor), I actually opted for the black and white sensor. We thought this was out of fashion when Huawei stopped doing it with its late models, but we're happy to see this trend return. Not that it's very popular, but it's also not a macro image, let's be honest.
Now, why set such a sensor when we can't use it to take pictures? In the camera app there is no way to use this sensor to take pictures with this beauty without using filters. In practice it is like a sensor for measuring depth. There, you think it helps in photography, but don't pay attention. Except for one.
When we come in image mode, click the icon for the three circles to pass, the icon for filters, and we refer to the last, O6, we will see that the details of this sensor are used there. Here are a few examples, but you can see it with the high resolution in the gallery link.
In standard photos, with a 64 Mpx sensor (although we usually shoot at 16 Mpx), dual-magnification telephoto or wide angle effects are common, but lower than what we expect from a forum in this category.
An example is the wide angle trial, which gives such distorted tones that the filter is almost always used. This is sometimes remedied if we use artificial intelligence, but it is something that, too, needs to be fixed by the software.
But the biggest adjustment is everything the camera needs in night mode. I have used it several times, manually or with AI discovery; and in all probability it appears as if we have boiled it with a very aggressive Photoshop filter.
Hopefully all of these bugs will be fixed in the first software update, before the terminal starts for sale.
As for video recording, we've seen it right, but the fixed recording option, one of the camera's most prominent position settings, didn't give us the impression that it was showing with recorded results.
The main front camera offers much higher quality than wide angle, especially when filming at night, when the sound is just as good as when we take pictures.
The fast charge of this phone is genuinely scary
Usually when we talk about cellular autonomy, the first thing we reveal is its amperage, battery capacity. In this case we should start with fast charging.
The realme X50 Pro 5G is one of the few phones on the market (and we can count on one fingerprint) with it 65W fast charging. According to the manufacturer, it will only take half an hour to charge the phone with the charger included in the box.
We wanted to test this function and estimate the time needed to charge the battery, as you can see in the graph.
The 4200 mAh of the X50 Pro 5G take them straight 38 minutes to fill, at speeds below 3% per minute on average, even though the speed is high at the beginning and low at the end.
In the tests we did, most of us were outdoors, without access to Wifi, so usage has been much higher than usual.
We had so much fun, we took lots of pictures and some video to explore many cameras and forums. We arrived between the fourth and fifth hour of the screen, about 30 hours total freedom. This goes up a bit when we're home, including Wifi.
The end of the case? We don't have wireless charging, something that is already annoying.
The X50 Pro 5G releases Realme UI as usual
This is the first real mobile phone to come standard with Android 10 and its new Realme UI connector. Changes regarding the Color OS are notable and the aesthetics are much closer than before with Android Stock. This is especially true of tables and notifications area, but in system settings and applications the Asian influence is still visible.
The configuration options are pretty straightforward and although we have seen some software failures when using wallpapers (only if we want to do it from desktops), we know that the software is not yet finished.
Thanks for example the option to change the icons in the system, which reminds us of that of OnePlus. Of course, it's frustrating to rearrange all the icons every time we make a small change.
And a side panel where we can put all the apps we want, so that they can be easily unlocked, with a simple gesture. Same with Samsung & # 39; s Edge apps.
I couldn't miss the option the exposure of the face to open, which uses front-facing cameras, and allows you to unlock the screen by lifting the phone, so that you don't have to press anything at any time. Hopefully all products will eventually do this. Of course, the most stupid failure is to skip the screen when using face recognition. I understand that there are users who want to see notifications there, though we have to provide the option to go directly to the desktop.
What I didn't automatically like was the frequency. Two of the most commonly used ones, one to return to the desktop and the other to turn on the brush function as in other cell phones. The problem is that the backlash doesn't use the traditional Android 10 feature that already has products like OnePlus, Huawei or Xiaomi, but it does ask us to borrow from bottom to bottom from the bottom frame, but not from the center, but from the center. The problem is that the same action was introduced by a Google assistant and I often found myself unlocking this app unwanted.
But surprisingly, when we look at the settings, we see that we have that option, something that is hidden and that means we can also hide the bottom bar where we do physical gestures. By the way, when we look there from left to right we will switch between the two latest applications.
And you should print interaction with screen anointing and accessories because it hides the computer time and network name on the lock screen. These are small details, which show that the software is not over, but it's something to keep in mind.
The realme X50 Pro 5G is a great tool
We will not close the analysis without mentioning that, as we expected, the realme X50 Pro 5G is the leading mobile device that the company has made in its short life. But he is not our favorite.
The feeling that the X2 and X2 Pro gave us was much more natural. The X50 Pro looks like it wants to bother you with its benefits and its brutal power. And there is no doubt, it is the only exception to this.
The fact is that the processor switches, 5G modular installation and the new camera system have a difficult time raising the price increase compared to previous models. If, frankly, it's a better phone, there's no doubt, but the same thing happens on the Xiaomi Mi 9 with respect to the Mi 10 is it worth paying the difference when those, in theory, the worst are already special?
Details such as fast charging, which I add that scares me and seems impossible, effective color and a great experience around the world make us think that it is rare that someone who buys this phone ends up disappointed. But you have to be really careful when raising prices.
