Have you ever thought that recycling should be assigned? There are countries that are already thinking about this type of compensation, thanking and rewarding those who separate from their sustainable packaging. In USA, Ecoembes’ TheCircularLab has developed a Return and Reward System (RDS) that rewards citizens for recycling their plastic drinks cans and bottles.
Recycling is becoming more and more important in our homes, for the good of our planet. Even so, there is still much room for improvement, but the rewards may encourage those who are not yet recycling to start doing so.
How RECYCLES works
RECICLOS is developed by Ecoembes, the organization that has been taking care of the environment for 25 years by promoting recycling in yellow and blue containers. The app rewards citizens who recycle their plastic drink cans and bottles in the yellow container. RECICLOS users will receive points exchangeable for participation in raffles or for donations to solidarity projects.
For example, this month of June, several active draws are planned:
- Of from June 1 to 14, You can enter a draw to win a travel suitcase with a travel toiletry bag.
- Of from June 15 to 30 400 packages of Valencian designation of origin will be drawn at random: 3 kg of DO Valencia rice, a paella for 4 people, 6 bottles of 500 ml of concentrated tiger nuts of DO horchata.
- Of June 10 to 25, RECICLOS is organizing a special draw in which 600 $200 coupons will be drawn for Atrápalo.
These are just some of the prices RECICLOS users can opt for. Through the application, users will be able to see the news.
Where can I download RECICLES?
This application has the ability to help you analyze each container you want to recycle. This application recognizes images and QR codes, whose technology is also integrated into containers and bins so they can connect via your mobile phone when you go to recycle.

How to use the RECICLOS application?
We download the application and we register in your system. Is free.
After downloading the app, we recycle our plastic drink cans and bottles into the yellow containers to earn RECYCLE points. In addition to containers, there are also more than 300 RECICLOS machines located throughout USA where you can drop off your plastic cans and drinks bottles. These machines are placed in places such as shopping centers, sports centers, hospitals or universities, among others.
Why use RECYCLES?
Because it rewards you for the “small” gesture of putting your plastic drink cans and bottles in the yellow container. With the points you can participate in draws, but, if you wish, this gesture can go much further if you exchange your RECICLOS points for donations to NGO projects like Oceánidas, Pequeno Deseo, the AECC, Juegaterapia or Aldeas Infantiles.
Technology applied to recycling
The circular laboratory, the Ecoembes open innovation center in Logroño, has demonstrated that technology can help us recycle more and better. The application uses artificial intelligence and Deep Learning technology, developed specifically by Ecoembes, to identify images. In addition, they continually work to improve the tool to be able to implement new features, optimize its operation and improve the user experience.
