Android TV has matured a lot over the past two years, becoming one of the best platforms for TVs, perhaps the best with the arrival of Google TV.

One of the advantages of Android TV is its similarity to the version of Android that we use on our mobiles, which has the same advantages; for example, in the number of updates.
Android 13 for TVs
Therefore, in the same way that Android 13 was released for mobile phones, it is now the turn of televisions. However, due to its own characteristics, this version will be somewhat different; to begin with, only a few devices will receive the update.
Specifically, Android 13 is only available for the Google ADT-3, a small device that looks a bit like the “Pixel of TVs”: a very basic Android device but has everything you need to use the platform. It was released a few years ago so that developers could build apps and experiences based on Android TV, and because of that, its support is the best there is on an Android device.
So unless you have an ADT-3 or like experimenting with the developer version of Android, this version doesn’t really affect you. This does not mean that it is not interesting, since it anticipates some of the news that we will receive in future updates and in the televisions that will hit the market in the coming months, but not all.
Google wouldn’t talk about interface changes or new features, focusing on improving performance and overall system quality. Android 13 should run better on the same hardware, which should make apps more comprehensive and powerful.
Additionally, Google has made several changes and improvements to technologies that developers can use in their apps. For example, a change in the use of audio devices should improve sound quality, since the optimal format will be chosen before playback.
Similarly, the image quality should also improve in certain situations. Users will now be able to change the resolution and refresh rate of connected HDMI devices, which should improve the experience. Another HDMI-related change will save power by allowing connected devices to pause the content they’re playing in reaction to what we’re doing.
Android 13 on TVs will also be easier to use and more accessible. For starters, it will let you use different keyboard layouts, as well as create new audio descriptions for people with vision issues.
