March is an interesting month for the mobile phone market. In February, the most high-end models and their variants are usually presented, with March and April being the months in which we start to see these mid-range and high-end mobiles which arrive with oversized features in their segment.
If there is a brand that has established itself in recent years as a ‘flagship killer’, this is little. The launch of the POCOPHONE F1 in 2018 marked a milestone and was followed by the very interesting POCO F2 Pro, the best-selling POCO F3 and the POCO F4. Now we tell you everything we think we know about the new POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro.
How many versions will there be of the POCO F5?
First of all, and according to rumors, leaks and certified models, let’s see how many variants we could have of the POCO F5. Last year we saw both the POCO F4 and the POCO F4 GT, which mounted the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 at a very attractive price, and this year they can repeat the game of two models which, above all, would differ in the chosen SoC.
It seems that, on the one hand, we will have the POCO F5, which would be a Redmi K60E, and a POCO F5 Pro
What processor will the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro have?
The main difference between the POCO F5 and the POCO F5 Pro would be in the processor. Recently, a well-known ‘leak‘filtered the Features of POCO F5 Prothe heart of the mobile being the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
To complete the set, it will have three cameras (64 Mpx for the main with OIS, eight Mpx for the wide angle and two Mpx for the macro), 5,500mAh battery with 67W charging and a 6.67-inch OLED display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
Taking into account these characteristics, and repeating what was previously commented, the POCO F5 Pro would be the global version of the Redmi K60 and not the Redmi K60 Proas said in the past (this one mounts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the most powerful processor in Android phones today).
On the other hand we have the POCO F5. According to the leaked specifications, it would be the international version of the Redmi K60E, very similar to the K60 Pro, but with some substantial changes: the main camera would be 48 Mpx and would go up the Dimension 9200 SoC
Now well, When it lands in the West, there may be another change, especially in battery capacity and processor. With the POCO F3 and F4, we have already seen that Xiaomi has opted for the Snapdragon 870, a revamped Snapdragon 865+ which has delivered very good results and reduced costs. Considering that the Xiaomi 13 Lite mounts the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, POCO has some leeway with different processors for its POCO F5.
What about the Redmi K60 Pro and POCO F5 GT?
Considering the fact that licenses have only been discovered for the two commented models of the POCO F5, it seems that, for now, the Redmi K60 Pro will not make the leap to the West in the form of POCO F5 GT. We will see what Xiaomi does in the future with this model because it could be very juicy.
To start, It has the same screen as the other Redmi K60sso it remains in this QHD + resolution with a refresh of 120 Hz. The design is also attributed to the rest of the family, but it has notable differences in the interior and the cameras.
The SoC is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a processor that we have already seen in the Xiaomi 13 or the OnePlus 11 and which left a very good taste in our mouths. The battery is 5,000 mAh, but with 120W charging. The main camera is said to be 54 megapixels with a larger sensor size than its other two siblings.
This combination between the latest Qualcomm processor and 120W charging We’ve already seen it in the Xiaomi 12T Pro, so the Redmi K60 could arrive later to deliver maximum power at a great price.
What would the POCO F5 design look like?
In terms of design, and watering of the Redmi K60, we don’t expect any major design changes. Both would have a camera module with a particular design: a central strip with the three cameras and, on the sides, a rim that shares the color of the rear.
This rear would be glass and the frames would remain plastic. On the front, both would be very similar to previous generations: central hole for the front camera and a flat screen with good use of the front.
When will the POCO F5 be released?
That’s the million dollar question and we don’t have a clear blueprint. The POCO F3, for example, was launched at the end of March of 2021 while the POCO F4 was launched at the end of June of 2022. The window is generous, but given that POCO has certified what the two POCO F5s could be, we could see a launch sooner rather than later, but we have no data on this.
What price will the POCO F5 have?
We do not have an answer to this question at this time. From POCO F3 -launched for 299 dollars with purchase in advance- to POCO F4 -for 349.99 dollars with purchase- there has been a jump of 50 dollars, so it will be interesting to see what will happen of this generation in the basic version.
In China, the basic Redmi K60 was launched at 337 dollars to change while the simpler K60 Pro was launched at 445 dollars to change. However, as we always tell you, these yuan to euro conversions rarely stay the samebecause each market has its particularities and here we usually see slightly higher prices.
