Apple MacBook Air (2020): A Complete Review
The MacBook Air is Apple's most popular and best-selling tablet. It's small, light, powerful enough for most people, and a less expensive option compared to other product brochure processing.
We can only say that the most modern era of the MacBook Air came with the model for the 2018 model, at that time given the USB-C port, Touch ID and Retina display, which ruined the charging port of MagSafe and USB-Culture.
This version also left the old keyboard to use what has been known as a butterfly technology, raising its original price to € 1,199 without giving it much storage power.
Already in 2019, Apple reduced its price by € 100 and gave the screen its True Tone, but without any other relevant changes. This year, with new rapid processes, the last two installations and the adoption of the Magic Keyboard, it is again in the center of the stadium.
New quantitative processes
One of the major complaints reported by Macode Airs users of 2018 and 2019 is that they were sold with an Intel Core i5-8210Y chip as the only processor option. The two-generation renewal was the development of graphics.
So, if you wanted more power and performance, you couldn't choose the MacBook Air and you had to jump into the MacBook family, because Apple didn't offer any other options for choosing a different processor.
This seems to have evolved with the 2020 MacBook Air through Intel's new 10th generation Ice Lake spies, which showcased the new Microarchitecture. Clock speed is low, but performance is high, especially in graphics.
This way, for a price of € 1,199 you can buy a portable model with a 10-core Core Core i3 processor, with dual core at 1.1 GHz speed (expanding to 3.2 GHz using Turbo Boost technology).
There are also customized production options for this MacBook AirSince you can swap a quad base processor, the 1.1GHz Core i5-1030NG7 is just a € 50 increase, or the Core i7 for an extra € 130.
Apple offers two standard configuration. While the original price MacBook Air starts at € 1,199 and offers Core i3, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, the other MacBook Air The standard configuration starts at € 1,499.
This model already comes with a Core i5 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and its storage capacity starts from 512 GB with a probability of up to 2 TB. This indicates that the jump from 256 GB to 512 GB represents a price increase of € 250.
For most users, the second option seems to be the ideal configuration space because you can get up to 16 GB of RAM for an extra € 250, the fact that you cannot expand after purchase.
Our benches show a 20% more processor speed increase over the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Air models (specs for these same models).
The increase in processing efficiency in multi-colored areas, as the charts show, is 40-70% higher. It is something that tastes like something that goes with video editing.
Autonomy, battery and charge
Unfortunately that's not all good news, and the battery life on the 2018/2019 MacBook Air was as good as the old MacBook Air, which was impressive considering the Retina display's addition. This year's model is taking a step back.
In our regular video play test with a screen used for 150 nits, the new MacBook Air 2020 lasted less than 9 hours. That’s about 15% less than the figures we reached for the 2018 model.
In day-to-day use, you will never know during this short time if you do simple office tasks or use the web during workday, breaks and breaks between hours and leaving the computer waiting.
Battery life still looks a little bit worse than previous models, but it still hasn't reached the point where it has to be concerned, compared to other Windows laptops considered the premium 13-inch.
Also, good keyboard
Almost six years have passed since Apple's keyboard keys have gained worldwide acclaim. With the introduction of the 12-inch MacBook, Apple began to replace the keyboard with a "butterfly" machine instead of the latest "scissor".
Although Apple did not approve of it, very few users liked the change and little did we later inform how difficult the equipment had been.
By coming 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has returned to a keyboard with a keyboard replacement such as the Keyboard. So, the MacBook Air (2020) is now the second laptop to use it.
Though not the same as an old scarf keyboard, as the buttons feel sturdier and slimmer, they provide more movement and grip than the butterfly keyboard, as well as more stability.
Also, it's an improvement to look for creative feedback and how quiet it is, something your coworkers will let you know, or even when they do video conferencing where you have to write. The nightmare of the keyboard finally seems to be over.
In other order of things, MacBook Air is still the only Mac you can buy without installing the Touch Bar. You still get the Login ID, but the physical key line operates one step above the other. the second touch screen you have to remove from the main screen to use it.
How about a webcam?
The MacBook Air webcam from previous publications will be largely overlooked, in the midst of a coronavirus-related disaster, more important than ever, in order to provide some quality to the video calls you accomplish remotely from your home
Here it should be said that Apple has chosen to continue to use the same 720p webcam used in recent years models, a big mistake. Resolution doesn't seem to be a problem (though 1080p may be acceptable).
The problem is with the final results you get using the webcam, without the image details, low power range, too much noise and disappointing color balance. So, we're dealing with a very bad webcam that is integrated with a large group.
In the comparisons we wanted to show the difference between using the new MacBook Air webcam (2020) and the level of detail you can achieve with a camera similar to the Logitech C920 model from 2012.
Although the Logitech webcam has been on the market for eight years, it manages to win in every way that Apple integrates on its laptop, capturing the situation with similar lighting conditions and using the same Apple Photo Booth system.
Of course, we have difficulty understanding this huge difference. Apple is struggling every year to upgrade the big cameras and selfies of its iPhone and iPad, while the only camera that should be a part of its air package seems to have been forgotten.
The sudden rise in phone calls, video calls, and virtual meetings seems to have opened up a feature that Apple should have developed in previous generations of the entire MacBook notebook.
It is obvious that you can always use the right webcam, but you need to be sure of the type of connector you need to connect this camera to your computer, or select the USB-A to USB-C adapter. The rest should be included by Apple as usual.
The decision
The new MacBook Air (2020) is not fun. It didn't do the old MacBook Air that it didn't. It removes the faulty keyboard that allows the new one we already see on the 16-inch MacBook Pro and will be expanded to other product laptops.
To be honest at this point, Apple gets points here for being a feature of a brand that shouldn't have been allowed. It also offers three print options to choose from, a fact they never thought of before.
While it may not be the most powerful and fastest shower ever, we must add that this point is not very relevant if the user chooses to buy a MacBook Air, looking for another series of travel benefits.
The important aspect is that it offers more for the same amount. The launch price is € 1,199 and when it looks like the MacBook Air is supposed to last. That gives you 256GB of storage instead of 128GB; update expected 2018.
The The air model For € 1,499 we had the opportunity to analyze it, with 512 GB of storage and a quad-core processor, a convenient entry point for many users to choose from, which guarantees longevity over the years.
Battery life, as we have seen, is worse than the previous generation, but we think that high performance from the performance of processors with multiple CPU cores and cables also has an impact.
It is time for Apple to replace the MacBook line with new designs and fine capabilities. If not, this MacBook Air update has better value than the 2018 or 2019 models, with an update that is easily appreciated by those who have stuck with their model from the last five years.
