Almost a year ago we knew about OPPO’s first foldable device, the OPPO Find N. A device that, despite being able to test it, did not end up reaching markets like ours. Who knows if things could change with the brand’s next folding.
The leak Digital Chat Station offered the first data from this terminal, revealing a ‘Flip’ style format which would make it very similar to terminals like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. Although he also talked about screen sizes and even camera sensors.
Format change for the second generation of OPPO folding
OPPO spent up to four years developing what was its first foldable phone, even showing off a prototype at MWC 2019. Now, with its ‘Find N’ nearly a year old, they seem to have taken a run and are about to launch their second foldable smartphone, albeit with a different format.
The “Find N” resembles phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 or the Huawei Mate Xs 2 by offering a standard-size exterior screen and then folding out to tablet format. However, the brand’s next folding it would be of the shell type. That is to say a compact format once folded with a secondary screen more informative than anything else, and with a main screen displayed according to the size of a current mobile.
The leak that we have known speaks of a 3.26-inch secondary screen and an 6.8-inch main OLED display. This would also have a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080p, again according to the aforementioned filter.
Other points to highlight would be the 4,300mAh for the battery. Being in the end this one of the weakest points of foldables in this format, I wanted to see how OPPO tries to optimize it and that it offers good autonomy.
Digital Chat Station also talks about a 32 megapixel selfie camera, which would have a Sony IMX709 sensor. In the back we would find a 50 and 8 megapixel dual camerathe first being the Sony IMX766 prime lens and the other a Sony IMX355 wide angle.
As with every leak, we cannot assign the same category to the data as if it were official information from OPPO. However, Digital Chat Station generally has good sources and their leaks are usually true. In any case, we will have to wait for new information.
For the moment it is unknown when will it be officially launched. If we take into account that the OPPO Find N was presented at the end of 2021, it would not be surprising if it could be released in these last months of 2022.
