We are starting to see the little surprises that the first beta of macOS Monterey 12.2 hides under its code. Developers who have tried it have noticed how web browsing with Safari improves and takes better advantage of 120 Hz of the ProMotion screen on the latest MacBook Pros.
ProMotion on Mac: a transition more than a novelty
Our colleague David Bernal Raspall had access to two MacBook Pros and did the test by installing the macOS Monterey 12.2 beta in the one on the right (the brightness of each screen was automatically calibrated according to the computer sensors). A change is appreciated:
The MacBook Pros with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chip are the first Apple computers capable of displaying macOS running at dynamic 120 Hz, but some applications did not fully adapt
This is something that will be resolved over time as these beta releases emerge and more Mac models embrace ProMotion. More than one user has noticed this improvement and has reflected it on forums such as Reddit or on Twitter:
The macOS 12.2 beta is now live, with smoother scrolling in Safari on the latest MacBook Pro with ProMotion, and a native Apple Music and TV experience supported by AppKit views instead of web views. https://t.co/jjM9THIxFc

macOS Monterey 12.2 will be in beta for several more weeks, probably until spring 2022. So it can be assumed that future beta versions of this release will further improve this performance and give macOS the dynamic 120Hz it really deserves.
