It’s no secret that smartphones They became our cameras pocket, and today they’re better than ever, with incredible sensors and capabilities that, honestly, many of us would have never imagined possible over a decade ago.
In the case of Samsungthe company has cell phones with excellent cameras for photography and video making, but many times these videos need some editing to make them perfectexactly how we want them to look when we share them with friends, family, or on social media.
In One UI 6, the South Korean company released a very powerful video editing application, full of functions and possibilities to combine, edit and decorate our video clips. If you’ve already updated to the latest version of the operating system, here’s what you need to know about its new video editing app.
Here is Studio, the new video editing application for the Samsung Galaxy
Studio is an application almost hidden within the operating system. Almost, because although it is available on mobile, it doesn’t actually have its own app icon, unless you activate it. Otherwise, you will only be able to access it when editing a video.
To be able to easily access Studio, the first thing to do is to go to the search bar from the mobile applications screen and write “Studio“. The first time you tap the icon and access the app, the system will prompt you to add Studio as a standalone application On your phone or tablet). It is advisable to do so.
Until One UI 5.1 it was possible to access a similar video editor, but with fewer features and, above all, less versatility and order when creating projects From the video. To do this, you had to press the pencil button on a video in the gallery and, once in the quick edit screen, press the three-dot button then “Create video”.
What Samsung has done with Studio is create an independent video editing application that, although it is not professional software in the style of Premiere and does not claim to be, is a tool very useful which is integrated directly into the system. That’s all you can do.
Studio allows you to save multiple video projects while in development, which was not possible in the previous version of One UI
One of the most important news for this publisher is that allows you to save several projects in development to continue working on it in the future, this was not possible before One UI 5.1.
When you go to Studio, you can choose to create a new project and select both videos and images for the project. Once selected, they will be arranged in a Changing the timeline. You can rearrange videos or clips by holding down each one and placing it at the desired position in the timeline, and of course you can work on each clip independently.
By clicking on a video or clip, it will be highlighted and you can cut the video and split it into two or more parts using the tools at the top, thus removing the parts you do not want to include or cutting only the segment you will use in the project. An options bar will also appear inside the screen, full of different tools.
If you click on the first icon, from left to right, it is possible to crop the size of the video (or enlarge it for example), in addition to changing the position of the image or video. The second option allows adjust video volume and set the audio to fade in or out. The third option allows you to change the speed of the video clip.
The fourth option allows you to apply a filter to the clip, with the same options included in image editing: in addition to choosing a filter, you can select its intensity. Finally, the fifth option allows Make more detailed edits to aspects like brightness, exposure, saturation, and more..
It is possible to apply this type of editing to each of the clips or videos in the project Timeline. Furthermore, it is also possible change transition between videos by pressing the small button between each two clips and selecting from the possible options.
No less important: it is also possible add texts, using your desired font and color, as well as stickers. You can choose exactly where the text will appear in the video, extending (or cutting) the length of the text in the timeline, in the same way that you can shorten the duration of video clips.
Finally, other interesting and useful features of the application: allows you to add more videos or images to the project at any time, add music or audio clips stored on your mobile such as, for example, a narration that you record for the video, in addition to being able to add songs from a database included in the application. And it is also possible to configure the format or aspect of the video, between options such as 16:9, 9:16: 1:1 and others.
Studio is a fairly complete application, even if it is not perfect. If there’s anything I’d like Samsung to include in an updatetion is the ability to overlay video clips on the Timeline main, so we can use, for example, a recording in the background (with its own audio) while we add other shots or visual clips.
There are editing apps with more professional options, like the excellent CapCut, but Studio is a fairly complete editor that integrates directly with the operating system, so it is possible to use it without installing anything. You just need to update your mobile to One UI 6.0.
