Smartphones are breakage-prone devices. It’s not so much because they’re flimsy or designed for it, but because there’s no other electronic device that we move around and carry around more throughout the day. Far. For this reason, it is not uncommon to see users complaining that their screen has broken after a fall, or that their charging connector is not working because it has been used a lot.
In an attempt to allow users to repair their mobiles themselves without having to go through after-sales service (with the cost that this implies), Samsung has launched a repair program in the United States in collaboration with iFixit.
Let’s repair our mobiles ourselves
This program is designed for users who are able to make certain changes, such as the screen or the battery, simply with a few tools and a video tutorial. In fact, Samsung has partnered with iFixit, probably the largest electronics repair community online.
From the US, Samsung will offer certain parts for certain models for sale to end users through iFixit, which will produce replacement manuals for them.
Initially, this collaboration is limited to Galaxy S20, S21 and Galaxy Tab S7+ tablets, and will be available in summer. You can buy the screens, the batteries, the back and even the charging connector.
Later there will be new compatible devices, as well as new parts of each.
We don’t know if this measure will also be available in other countries later, but in markets like Europe, where Samsung’s share is huge, they would be well received.
