There is less time left before the launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 in Europe, the brand’s flagship device that will likely become an option to consider for anyone looking to change their mobile phone. But that doesn’t mean they’re suitable for everyone.
There are situations and requirements for which even a high-end mobile phone like the S24 is not suitable; And there are times when there is no point in having the best screen or the best processor if the cell phone is not capable of keeping up with us and supporting what we endure at work, for example.
For these users, Samsung today presented the Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy Tab Active5, two so-called “robust” devices; In other words, they are better prepared to withstand shock and be used in adverse situations and harsh environments. The bottom line is that both devices were manufactured to the military standard MIL-STD-810H, so they are prepared for all types of situations and all types of “punishments” that a conventional device would not withstand. Additionally, both devices are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy XCover 7 is the brand’s new rugged mobile phone, capable of withstanding drops of up to 1.5 meters. To protect the 6.6-inch screen, it is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus+, and in terms of connectivity, it has improved 5G to be faster and more reliable and WiFi 5. For its part, the Galaxy Tab Active5 is the new robust tablet, capable of resisting falls. up to 1.8 meters and compatible with an included S Pen touch stylus and which is also IP68 certified; The 8-inch display comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and the device has 5G and WiFi 6 connectivity.
On the technical side, both devices have received improvements to their respective displays, with the XCover7 now getting a higher resolution and the Tab Active5 getting increased brightness and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Both devices also feature fast charging, although Samsung hasn’t specified how much power; The cell phone’s battery is 4,050 mAh and the tablet’s battery is 5,050 mAh, and both devices feature a POGO interface for compatible charging bases that simplify the charging process.
Both run Android 14 with the new One UI 6, and the battery-free mode is striking, limiting the use of the CPU and other components so that it lasts long enough to reach a charging point. Both models will be available from this month of January 2024, at a price to be confirmed in Europe.
