A few weeks ago we discussed the features of the new Samsung T7, the last external unit focused on giving us complete security of our data. Today, together with SanDisk, we are exploring an alternative when it comes to protecting our data, the Extreme Pro Portable SSD, benchmark for SSD memory.
Design: Compact and dynamic
Maybe because of the number of times we’re going to watch it on our desk or because we’re going to carry it somewhere else, the external appearance of an SSD drive is something we should consider.
In this sense, the designed SanDisk external drive has a compact, lightweight compact with excellent performance. The outer surface of the rubber that emerges slightly from the large metal chassis gives this unit a in addition to severe resistance to occasional falls. It is also true that, especially if we usually have this unit in our pocket, the end of the rubber can pick up a lot more dirt than we would like, even though there is nothing we can solve by simply passing our hand.
Within its rectangular design, in the upper right corner this device has an empty triangle that can allow us paste some type of ribbon to hang or move easily.
Features: excellent speed and high power
At the operating level, the first thing that needs to be highlighted is the USB Type-C port port. In the product box includes i USB-C to USB-A cable, and USB-C to USB-C cable, so we can choose the option that suits us best without using adapters or on wires with proprietary connectors. Once connected to our computer or iPad, this SanDisk does not provide us with any performance indicator, which, in addition to the stability of the SSD disk, at least in my opinion, should be notified.
Let’s talk about speed. In my trial with the 2T version this storage was almost accessible Writing speed of 930MB / s and approximately reading speed of 900MB / s. These are very high speeds compared to the internal storage of most Mac computers and that makes this external storage a good candidate if, for example, we want to manage an external Final Cut Pro X library.
SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 500GB – up to 550MB / s Read Speed
SSD comes with a password protection program that we can voluntarily install. This is an option that will fit or not suit us depending on the usage we want to give you a disc. If we want to, for example, use it on our iPad and Mac and at the same time we need to encrypt its content, perhaps the best option would be to use encrypted APFS.
SanDisk offers three storage sizes: 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
