With the Pixel 8 family on the market since last fall, Google is already looking towards the nearest future through its annual event, Google I/O 2024, where we will likely meet a new member: the mid-range Pixel 8a . Even its colors have been leaked, although it’s not the only phone the search engine plans to launch this year.
After the summer, and coinciding with the rollout of the final version of Android 15, we should see Google’s new top of the range with a Pixel 9 which will launch the rumor of satellite connectivity. To do this, they need a new modem which it is already confirmed to be equipped with.

A hardware implementation must have an answer on the other side, that is, software: the new modem will launch native Android 15 satellite messaging integration. Apparently, will debut with T-Mobile (aided by the SpaceX collaboration), and will then be extended to other providers.
