Google, the main protagonist of Android, has in this operating system a wide suite of applications for all needs. The most common is the application named after the company “Google”, presented by Discover. Also inside we have other sections such as the weather forecastrecently updated.
Well, aside from giving the cute little weather frog a facelift (and much needed one), the Mountain View company has other plans: separate prediction in one app ‘autonomous‘ and by the way, link it to the clock.
Google Weather will be a standalone app
As we read in the specialized media 9to5Google, the search engine giant has given some clues about the new exclusive weather app. In fact, this new experience goes hand in hand with version 7.5 of Google Clock, the application of which reveals the change to us.
In it, references were found to a new package which is given the name of com.google.android.apps.weather. Indeed, it turned out to be a new application, different from what we already had. As we know, the ancient experience of Time integrates with Google search, or “Google” to dry. In addition to being integrated, it is updated with this central application, as is the case with Google Assistant, Google Lens or Podcasts, all under the same umbrella.
This gives it some drawbacks, such as the widget itself which, although useful and beautiful, gives us direct access to the forecast of our current position, something really uncomfortable if we want to check the weather to others locations. The new app will follow Material You’s design lines to resemble the company’s operating system, with independent updates and better performance.
According to the outlet, the icon will be similar to the one we already have on Wear OS watches, which already have a separate app. This discovery was located in the Google Clock application, which benefits from the change. Soon, of the clock itself, we will see the time
However, users we won’t have to wait too long: We will be able to test it soon, since an arrival is estimated before the official launch of the Pixel Tablet and the foldable Pixel Fold, for next month.
