share of the app platform according to Reuters

The difficulties Huawei currently has are known since, as we know, the company has blocked access to Google services and applications, including the Google Play Store. This has led him to accelerate the development of his mobile services outside of China, called HMS. This also includes upgrades to its app store, called Huawei App Gallery. Though efforts are being put into expanding the said store they will have unexpected friends.

China is a great place that, in addition to starring in the media as a whole because of the recent Coronavirus disaster, maintains its services and inclusion for all citizens. This includes in-app stores: no Google Play, Each manufacturer has developed its own proposal for distribution of apps and games. But what if the greats joined forces to distribute programs jointly outside China?

The news was made by Reuters as special reference sources familiar with the matter. And it weighs heavily on the industry: The joint venture agreement will include Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo and OPPO.

The news is a major battle for Google as four phone manufacturers make up a large percentage of the world's device share, about 25% of all smartphone manufacturers (Stat Counter data, January 2020). This means that, although they continue to include the Google Play Store as the default app store (with the exception of Huawei, at least on the latest models), they will offer their stores as an alternative integrating resources between the four thanks to a shared platform. All according to Reuters special data.

Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo and OPPO would have built a global development platform that would operate globally, outside of China's borders. Through this interactive platform creators of apps and games can upload their progress so that this is published in all stores at the same time and without the need to load apps individually commercially. This will be a huge benefit for developers, and for users: thanks to unified publications, with brands like Huawei putting a special effort to attract development to their store, the volume and quality of applications should increase. It can also pose a major threat to Google as the Google Play Store may lose its attractiveness; becomes another store on each and every Android, albeit widely known and by default.

With affiliate publishing engineers it would be easier to distribute their programs to millions of mobile phones around the world

A platform for joint development would be called Global Developer Service Alliance o Global Alliance for Developer Services (GDSA). This site is not new because it also has a web page. The domain was sold and the organization purchased it in June 2019; a fact that illustrates the concerns of brands involved in suffering the bad luck of being stripped of Google's services. This GDSA will facilitate the distribution of applications to the international Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO stores (and also Huawei, as Reuters puts it): it will be enough to load on the platform so that from there the developer can publish to all the stores of the organization.

The standard developer services platform is active and allows apps to be downloaded, but cannot be published yet: Reuters identifies next March as the start date. We've contacted Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo and OPPO and they have all made it clear that they cannot confirm or deny the news.

Xiaomi has made the official statement: "The Global Developer Service Alliance is working to facilitate the uploading of applications made by developers to the relevant Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo stores simultaneously. There is no desire to compete with the Google Play Store.".
