Bizum is growing. And it’s doing it so fast that it’s already working to take the next step and enable in-store payments. The service has gotten everyone used to using their personal money transfers through their bank’s apps.
This inevitably caused more than one scam attempt via Bizum. An attempt is made to trick the user into sending money, a process that can be done with a simple phone number and has been seen a few times. But what happens when the person receiving money from someone you don’t know is you?
This is what happened to a colleague, Eva Rodríguez. Suddenly and without warning, he receives a Bizum of 100 dollars from a certain Gloria, with the concept of ‘Food’. Eva didn’t know Gloria and hadn’t even eaten with her. What should be done in these cases?
How to know the number of the person sending you a Bizum
The first thing to do is to make sure we don’t really know this person and weren’t expecting this money. Sometimes a mental failure, an oversight, can cause a transference that you thought was rated as unknown.
If you have checked well and you are sure that someone you don’t know has sent you money, then it is necessary to consult Bizum to be able to locate this person
The interfaces of each bank are different, but you can check the person’s number access movement history and search your transfer or name
If someone sent you money by mistake, send it back
From that point on, you should contact the person and let them know what happened, because you probably transferred to the wrong person. This is what happened to our colleague Eva, who contacted this Gloria and returned the money via another Bizum after verifying that it was an error.
Remittances via Bizum cannot be reversed, and for this reason, a second Bizum to return that remittance is what you need to do. This is exactly what you would want if the person who mistakenly sent a Bizum to a stranger was you.
