We Spaniards are more aware of the weather than ever, after the DANA tragedy in Valencia; These phenomena may become more and more frequent and it is important to be well informed about weather forecasts. The good news is that our mobile phone gives us direct access to the latest news, including AEMET warning notifications; In fact, today warnings have been activated in 13 provinces due to the entry of a DANA.
Our Android mobile also has several weather applications that provide access to updated weather forecast information. But there is an app that also alerts us about the weather, and that many people may not know about: Google Maps
For years now, Google Maps has a weather indicator integrated into the application; But with a new update released today, it’s even more useful for knowing the weather in an area and what the weather forecast is. The update is already reaching users in Europe, as EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre was able to verify on several mobile phones.
The new update moves the weather forecast icon to the lower right corner, in the “New developments in the field” section
The interesting thing comes if we click on this icon; then the bottom menu goes up and displays hourly weather forecastin addition to a greater amount of information such as thermal sensation and maximum and minimum temperatures in the area. It’s not a lot of data, but it’s enough to make a decision, for example whether we should take an umbrella or whether we should be more careful while driving.
Just by moving the map, this information will change automaticallyso that we can see the weather in the area where we live or in the area where we work, for example. At any time we can click the button to return to our location, and Google Maps will display it along with the weather in the area.
Currently, only Google Maps users with Android phones receive the new weather icon and panel; Google has not confirmed this, but everything indicates that iOS users will have to wait a little longer to be able to use it.
