We’re summing up everything we expect from the next generation iPad Pro: design, processor, and more.
The year 2022 can be an important year for Apple and yet we are expecting many new devices like the iPhone 14, AirPods Pro 2 or iPhone SE 3. the iPad lineup also has a lot to say, and the iPad Pro is its biggest exponent. For years Apple has presented a new iPad Pro every year, and everything indicates that we will have a new model in 2022, which is what we expect from it.
Design of the iPad Pro 2022
We don’t have a lot of rumors of a possible design change on the iPad Pro. A few months ago, Mark Gurman reported that Apple was getting ready an iPad Pro with a glass body instead of aluminum, which would allow wireless charging.
The iPad could integrate MagSafe in the next versions of 2022.
We’ve also seen other rumors that the iPad Pro might have smaller bezels and a notch. There has also been speculation that the layout could go horizontal like in a MacBook, i.e. the apple turns 90 degrees.
Despite these possible design changes, the overall line shouldn’t change much. That is, we will have an iPad with straight sides and reduced screen bezels. Apple should keep the current two screen sizes: 11 inch and 12.9 inch, although it is more than likely that the 11-inch model incorporates the mini LED panel which until now was reserved for the larger iPad Pro.
It makes sense that the design doesn’t change too much if Apple wants to. maintain compatibility with accessories like the Magic Keyboard or the Apple Pencil 2. These are very expensive accessories, which users may continue to use in new generations of iPads.
Processor and storage
After Apple surprised us all with the arrival of the M1 chip on the iPad Pro, it is expected that the next generation will incorporate the next generation of the chip, i.e. the M2 processor. This processor is rumored to be showcased alongside a refurbished MacBook Air sometime in 2022. A MacBook Air that could be accompanied by the new iPad Pro.
The next Apple Silicon processor
When it comes to internal storage, Apple should keep the same options we find now, as there are no rumors of a capacity increase, the only surprise could be an increase in minimum storage. These would be the options:
- 128 GB
- 256 GB
- 512 GB
- 1 TB
- 2 TB
When will the iPad Pro 2022 be released?
Something really hard to predict. The latest generations of iPad Pro were presented at the beginning of the year, in March and April. However, in this case the launch of the iPad Pro 2022 will be conditioned by that of the M2 chip.
If Apple introduces this new processor at the start of the year, we will probably also see a new iPad Pro early 2022. However, if this chip is delayed until the middle of next year, we will not see again iPad Pro until October 2022.
How much will the iPad Pro 2022 cost?
No big changes to expect either As for the price of the different versions of the iPad Pro, which has been around for several years with little variation. The normal thing is that Apple maintains the current prices for its iPad Pro line, which start at the following numbers:
- 11-inch iPad Pro: 879 dollars.
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro: $ 1,199.
That’s all we know about the upcoming iPad Pro. We haven’t heard too many rumors about any possible news, although what we really hope is a version of iPadOS that takes full advantage of the power of the iPad Pro. Hopefully it’s iPadOS 16.
