Apple chief executive Tim Cook gave a graduation speech at Ohio State University in America this weekend. Given current circumstances, the speech has been in digital format that Cook has shown, among other issues, on the path that led to the time we are living and the opportunities we have.
Meditate and inspire students and everyone
Tim Cook opened his talk show the circumstances that led Roosevelt to become president immigrants from the United States. The circumstances that followed the outbreak of World War I and the so-called "Spanish flu" epidemic among American soldiers, led to him being elected president. After this presentation Tim Cook talked to students about the following questions:
Graduates, I'm sorry we don't celebrate this day together. Its class is special, marked historically as few in OSU's 150 years. And while we're not over the shoulder in the room, filling it in at the edges, I know that your parents, your loved ones, your friends and teachers are not greatly reduced by the pride they feel for you and your accomplishments.
An Apple official reminded students that graduating under current conditions should be the same is as important as the endurance and endurance test:
It can be hard to see the whole picture once you are on the scale, but I hope you will wear these rare cases as a badge of honor. Those who go through times of historical challenge with their eyes and hearts open, cannot always be and always strive, and are the ones who leave the most impact on the lives of others. Throughout the ages, life has a way of reminding us that we are not the only writers of our history.
Turning to a more personal situation, Tim Cook thought the importance of relationships and our impact on others.
When I joined Apple in 1998, I couldn't believe my luck. I would spend the rest of my professional life working for Steve Jobs.
But the end is like a thief in the night. The loneliness I felt when we lost Steve was proof that nothing was more permanent, or more powerful, than the impact we had on others.
Given the state of confinement, Cook revealed that not being able to leave home leaves us with a lot of deadlines that he will fill and that he has tried to apply himself to learning, especially Abraham Lincoln. Some texts he recommends to anyone who wants to put current times in perspective. In Cook's words, "It's amazing how well his imagination remains, so sweet and alive, how this well-kept and humble man has managed, in noisy times, to call others hope
Ends the talk, Tim Cook encouraged it remember that students are the pride of their families, teachers and communities.
They didn't promise you this day. Many of you had to fight hard to win.
Now it's yours. Think again, and do it again.
Create a better future than your predetermined thinking. And in times of fear, call us again for hope.
Undoubtedly, some of the words, although addressed to university students, apply to many, especially in current contexts.
