One thing we can say about Spotify is that it is the best streaming app for discovering music and organizing our favorite songs. Its playlist creation features are second to none, although that’s not enough to entice many people to switch to alternatives like YouTube Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, or Apple Music.
Maybe Spotify is too obsessed with playlists and music discovery features; to the point that it leaves behind functions much requested by fans like high definition music. Today, Spotify made another announcement, and once again, music discovery takes center stage.
How many different ways should you find new songs? Spotify came to ask the spirits for help with this, and now it’s the turn of a technology that, for many people, is fundamentally the same: artificial intelligence.
Spotify with AI
Spotify’s new feature is called AI Playlist and, as the name suggests, it is capable of creating playlists using artificial intelligence. Now, this is not really something new. As readers of EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre know, Spotify has already created its own artificial intelligence to act as a DJ and has collaborated with Google to use its AI to recommend songs.
How is this new thing different then? Well, it is able to create lists based on what we ask of it; is able to use “prompts” like those in ChatGPT to understand what we want, seek it and show it. This is a little harder than it seems, since many people aren’t able to explain themselves very well when they want something; but Spotify’s AI seems to be able to understand what we want.
For example, he is able to understand what we say to him when we ask him “a list that makes me feel like the protagonist” or when we ask him “music to help me during allergy season “. Spotify says it uses its personalization technology, which it already uses to present personalized playlists, with AI to create a musical mix just for us.
The new option to create playlists using AI will appear in the Spotify app, specifically in the “Your Library” section. There we will have to click on the ‘+’ button and the AI option will appear with the current options to create a list or merge. An important detail is that this function is currently not available in Europe and only certain English-speaking countries can start using it.
For Europe, Spotify presented RADAR Europe, a new program to support talents in our country; has already selected the first artists who will be supported by the company with channels, lists and presence on social networks, as well as with the creation of exclusive content. The first artists selected are Mushkaa, Charlie USG, Luis Cortés, Pablopablo, Shego and Samuraï.
