It’s been two years since Steam Link arrived on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and it’s just been approved for macOS and available on the Mac App Store. With Steam Link, Steam players can use an external computer to stream and play their games on any other device.
Steam Link was rejected in 2018 on the App Store due to Apple guidelines banning streaming games on iOS. However, after Apple and Valve worked together, and since the app didn’t offer a separate library and was dependent on a computer, it was eventually accepted.
However, the version for macOS had been surprisingly delayed until now, which Valve has quietly released a version for macOS by Steam Link. Mac users can now install the app to stream and play their Steam games from another computer, just like with iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
“The Steam Link app lets you play your Steam games on all of your computers. Simply pair an MFi controller or Steam controller with your Mac, connect to a computer running Steam on the same local network, and start enjoying the games in your library.“.
The only requirements are:
- An Apple Mac with macOS 10.13 or higher.
- Computer running Steam (Windows, Mac or Linux).
- The Apple Mac must be on the same local network as the computer running Steam.
This brings us the possibility of play any type of game on macOSAlthough you need a computer with Steam from which to stream the game and be able to play on any other screen thanks to Steam Link.
