As I write these lines, I am flying over the Mediterranean Sea at 10,364 meters above sea level on a flight to Tel Aviv. I’m telling you this because if you’ve ever been on a plane, you’ll know that we must activate the airplane mode of our iPhoneAnd that’s the subject of today’s article.
Maybe at some point in your life you lost your phone or it was stolen. It wouldn’t be weird in USA it happened to 22% of the population according to a recent study. In these cases, being able to know the location of our iPhone is essential to increase our chances of recovering it, although it is not an easy task. Often what thieves do is put it on airplane mode to prevent us from locating it, but it ended with this awesome shortcut.
Make life more difficult for the thief
Twitter user Diego Jiménez shared a shortcut on Elon Musk’s social network that allows create a password to enable airplane mode. In addition, if entered incorrectly, it locks the iPhone, activates Wi-Fi, data and Bluetooth, activates battery saving mode and sends the exact location of the terminal to the contacts you choose.
I made a quick automation to protect my iPhone if someone steals it while it’s unlocked: if they turn on airplane mode (Find My), it asks for a password. If wrong…it automatically locks the phone 🔒, enables all connectivity 📡 + Low Power Mode 🔋 and shares its current location📍 pic.twitter.com/KYwbbz1QkV

This shortcut is a bit long but worth it. I leave you here the complete sequence so that you can reproduce it on your phone. You need to do this in the “Automation” section, starting with the “when airplane mode is on” option. In this way we avoid possible problems when recovering our iPhone Lost or stolen.
As a general rule, we advise you to block access to the control center if your phone is not unlocked. In this way, no one but you will be able to activate airplane mode
It is not uncommon for our phone to be stolen or for us to lose it. No one is safe from suffering such a thing, but it is true that by taking a series of precautions like those we have just told you about, we will be a little safer than the othersand that is already something.
