The Google Play Store is full of excellent games, both with simple but very effective mechanics (and above all very fun), as well as ambitious titles, with immense worlds and campaigns that offer dozens of hours of play, or even more. This is the case of Convallaria’s Sword.
I’ve been testing this game for several days and it immediately hooked me, winning me over with a perfect mix of nostalgia, beautiful visuals and excellent gameplay. Plus, it’s free, so I had no excuse not to try it on my Android phone, and it was worth it.
A game with Pixel Art design and combats in the best style of Final Fantasy Tactics
I’ve been a fan of video games most of my life and I’ve always preferred games with campaigns that offer me an exciting adventure and a great story, as well as good gameplay. Come on, I’m more of a game lover solo that of the multiplayer. And after playing classic Japanese RPGs, or JRPGs, they have become some of my favorite titles. I mean the ones like the Final Fantasy saga, Fire Emblem and others.
I specifically mention these two video game sagas because they undoubtedly seem to be a source of inspiration for Sword of Convallaria, which represents much more than a classic JRPG. a tactical RPGagain, in the best style of Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, or the more recent (and beautiful) Octopath Traveler.
Of course, even though it is inspired by the classics, it is a game with beautiful cards, an exciting story that unfolds over several hours and fully commented dialogues that we can enjoy in Japanese.
Tactical RPGs are games in which combat takes place on a kind of board with grids that must be taken into account to attack and defend. The strategy that we will develop will depend on what each character can do and the number of squares they can travel. It is an incredibly fun style of game and, in addition, I think it’s perfect to enjoy on a touch screen.
Sword of Convallaria is a tactical RPG with a beautiful design. These types of games can be perfectly enjoyed on touch screens.
In Sword of Convallaria we have characters that make short-range attacks, with which we will have to face the enemy, and others that make ranged attacks. We also have characters dedicated to magic, who can attack enemies or heal our team. The variety of characters is greatwhich offers us different ways to face each situation.
Additionally, the map the fight takes place on must be taken into account, since the obstacles in the scenario affect how the fight unfolds.
The visual section of the game, as I mentioned at the beginning of these lines, is simply beautiful. Its design has a look classic Pixel Art style, but despite this, its maps are complex, made with great detail and lighting effects that seem modern. It is a game that looks extremely beautiful, whose story unfolds over many hours and will be affected by our decisions in the game.
Sworf of Convallaria is a free-to-play game, yes, that technically does not require spending money to advance and enjoy it. However, it does offer in-game purchases that allow us to advance faster, improving our variety of characters and weapons. It is a game called ‘until‘, in the manner of others like Genshin Impact, but in my tests I did not want to spend a single euro and so far I have several very good characters and I have already completed part of the story. I think it is possible to play it without spending a centand it is appreciated.
