There are a lot of things I liked about the iPhone 16, but they’re not perfect devices
Now that we’ve covered and analyzed the new features of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, it’s time to take stock. And, just as I shared what I liked most about the new iPhone 16, I also have a list of disappointments regarding Apple’s new iPhones. I didn’t like it at all.
Without ProMotion on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
It’s 2024 and the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus still have a screen with a fixed refresh rate of only 60 Hz. This is the only drawback I found in the iPhone 15 in my analysis, and it probably remains the only weak point of the iPhone 16.
It is true that Apple wants to differentiate its models by only offering ProMotion in Pro modelsbut that’s already 4 years of exclusivity. Apple could choose to set a less progressive refresh rate, between 10 and 90 Hz instead of between 1 and 120 Hz. It seems that this problem will be solved with the iPhone 17, but it may be a reason why many do not buy an iPhone 16.
Limited color gamut on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
THE The iPhone 16 Pro’s color range isn’t one I’ve enjoyed the most in recent yearswith two very similar colors like natural titanium and desert titanium. Which are complemented by the classic black and white color.
For example, the The iPhone 13 Pro has arrived in 5 very different colors all: graphite, gold, silver, sierra blue and alpine green. Offering many options to users, which are conspicuously absent this year.
Telephoto sensor unchanged
The iPhone 16 Pro has taken a very significant step in the worst sensor of the iPhone 15 Pro, we now have a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that promises a lot. However, the telephoto sensor remains exactly the same
It is true that we now have this zoom also on the iPhone 16 Pro, but it does not seem to be enough of an improvement. Have including a 48 megapixel sensor completing the trio would have been a bigger step that would not have disappointed.
Without launching Apple Intelligence (and who knows when in USA)
This is probably one of the biggest disappointments. Apple Intelligence should have been a strong selling point for the new iPhone 16, but the devices They will arrive without any artificial intelligence functions.which will arrive in a few weeks in beta version when iOS 18.1 is released.
Furthermore, the The launch is limited to English and the United States
120fps recording with main camera only
The iPhone 16 Pro has the ability to record videos at 120 fps with the “Fusion Camera” with Dolby Vision. The “Fusion Camera” is the 48-megapixel main camera, which means that Neither of the other two sensors are capable of recording video at this frame rate per second.. A small disappointment that limits the options.
2024 and we continue with USB 2.0
While it’s something few people will use, the USB-C connector on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus still has USB 2.0 speeds. That means they have data transfer speeds limited to 480Mbps, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have USB 3 transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps.
This may not seem important, but When transferring content to an external device, such as photos or videos, it can take forever compared to Pro models.
And so far, the disappointments, the The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro arrive with many exciting new featuresespecially for those with models prior to the iPhone 15. But they’re not perfect either.
