Epic confirms that it has submitted its Epic Games Store and Fortnite to Apple for validation and release on iPhone
Apple has been allowing alternative app stores to the App Store on European iPhones for several months and one of the most anticipated is about to be officially launched. After the long fight that ended with the release of Fortnite from the App Store, The popular game will make a triumphant return to iPhone thanks to the arrival of the Epic Games Store.
We already have plenty of alternative app stores for iPhone, but the Epic Games Store might end up being the biggest of them all, mainly because of the big company behind it. The official announcement of the Epic Games Store for iPhone was made earlier this year. Now, as the company itself has revealed, Epic Games Store and Fortnite have already been sent to Apple for the notarization process

After 4 years, Fortnite will return to iPhone
Fortnite was banned from the App Store in August 2020 when Epic Games violated App Store rules by including its own payment methods in the game, attempting to circumvent Apple’s commission. This led to a lengthy legal standoff between the two companies, although Apple emerged victorious in each case.
However, the The European Union’s digital markets law allowed Epic to create its own alternative app store from which to use your own payment methods. While it’s true that Apple can continue to collect money from these stores if the apps exceed 1 million downloads, it’s likely that Epic will still make a lot of money. Especially considering that they will charge a 12% commission on published games. Although I don’t know if they will make up for the 4 years spent away from the iPhone.
For now, We only know that in the Epic Games Store we will have Fortnite when it launchesalthough new games are expected to arrive for iPhone over time. Of course, the store will only be available in Europe, it will not be able to be implemented outside of the EU countries unless similar legislation is in place. Fortnite will therefore return to iPhone, but only in Europe.
We don’t know exactly when the Epic Games Store will arriveActually, this is something they don’t know about at Epic either. They sent their store to Apple so that the company can confirm that everything is correct and give them permission to publish it, but this process is quite opaque, some developers have even complained. We don’t know exactly what Apple checks in these processes and how long it can take.
For this reason, Epic Games confirms its store will arrive in the coming monthsbut they don’t know the exact day. If Apple is quick in the verification process, it could be in a few weeks, but if there is a problem, the premiere could be delayed.
