A big day is approaching for Xiaomi. On October 29, the Chinese giant will present not only the new Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro, but also a new Ultra version of its electric car, the Xiaomi SU7.
The Xiaomi SU7 was a brutal success, considering that the company started its development from scratch and with the aim of fighting against the best in the sector, like Tesla and Porsche. This success motivated Xiaomi to start the second phase of your planwith the expansion of its Beijing factory; something necessary as the current factory has already had to start a double shift to speed up production and meet the high demand.
The objective of this second phase is to achieve a rate of 300,000 units per year; It is ambitious, but it will do so after having exceeded the initial target of 100,000 units per year next November, which forced expectations to be revised upwards, to 120,000 units.
Once demand for Xiaomi’s electric car is demonstrated, new models will arrive. The existence of a Xiaomi SUV has already been leaked, but first a sporty version of the SU7 will arrive which aims to demonstrate that electric cars can compete with the best sports cars on the market.
The new model will be the road version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, already presented and which has dedicated itself to traveling the legendary Nürburgring circuit in search of the electric sedan record. At the moment it has not been confirmed whether it has succeeded, but if it has it is expected that it will be announced at the next conference on October 29.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype is the manufacturer’s most advanced model to date, with a three-motor setup that together provides around 1,138 kW. 1,526 horsepower. This allows it to achieve impressive performances, such as 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds or a top speed of 350 km/h. To keep the car on the track, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has various spoilers and a huge rear diffuser.
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has already clarified that the street version It won’t be exactly the same as the prototype. For starters, the use of exotic materials like carbon fiber will be limited, for cost reasons; It should also not have circuit-mandatory features, such as the roll cage or the reduced height suspension, which make daily use of the car difficult.
However, the final version of the Xiaomi SU7 should be a “beast” that few people will be able to tame; In fact, Lei Jun has already announced that the car will leave the dealership in a special limited mode and the driver will have to follow a tutorial to unlock all the power and features.
Those interested in the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra can now start their reservation in China, although for the moment the price remains a mystery. According to Goldman Sachs, it could reach 800,000 yuan, or around 104,000 dollars at the current exchange rate.
