Depending on where you live, reuniting with family could mean a several-hour car trip or require you to take a few planes. For the latter, the trip can turn into a nightmare at the slightest unexpected event.
But sometimes, A single app on iPhone can take all the stress out of traveling between planes and airports.. And it turns out that the most acclaimed app for this in iOS 17 was developed in Barcelona.
Flighty, the definitive companion for your flights
The application is called Volatile, and it’s so complete that it received an Apple Design Award. In addition, this year was a finalist to be the app of the year, nothing less. It is maintained by three people and the person responsible for its development is Francesc Bruguera from Barcelona.
The application concentrates everything you need to know about one or more flights: its boarding and departure times, if it has been delayed, its boarding gate at the airport, the airline’s contact details. .. you can even share them all. flight data with travel companions who have also installed the same application.
Integration is absolute: Flighty has special interfaces for the dynamic island of the latest iPhones and can display flight data updated in real time via live activity on the lock screen. Its widgets also appear on the Apple Watch if you have one, and everything stays in sync with apps like Calendar.
But what makes Flighty unique is your ability to go beyond. It not only concentrates all our flight information in one place, but also gives you information normally reserved for airport and airline workers. For example, where the plane you are going to use is located and what other flights it has taken before yours. These are details that can reveal why your flight is delayed or why your plane hasn’t shown up at the gate yet.
The importance of offering flexible payments
Flighty can be downloaded for free from the App Store, and we have all options unlocked when we use it on our first flight. From now on, to have all this data permanently available you must pay a subscription of 49.99 dollars per year (this amounts to approximately 4.16 dollars per month).
This is a price that makes me recommend the application to frequent travelers who take the plane like someone who goes out to buy bread, because it greatly simplifies the management of all the data of this trip.
Now, I really like the idea they had of offering a special price to occasional travelers: you can use Flighty for 3.99 dollars for a week. For those going on a business or leisure trip, this is a very suitable price that encourages you to take advantage of all the benefits. And for those who travel almost every weekend, there is a one-time payment option for life for 299 dollars.
Not all apps that charge a subscription offer such flexible plans, and that’s something I like to point out in the case of Flighty. I hope other applications will follow.
