A few weeks ago, Samsung presented a mobile phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which was accompanied by two new high-end tablets, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+. Oddly enough, Samsung did not present the base Galaxy Tab S10, in a rather curious decision because In countries like Europe, price is one of the most important purchasing factors.
We say this because the price of this tablet is highas befits a tablet of the highest possible range. The model with WiFi costs 1,339 dollars on the company website while the one with 5G connectivity goes up to 1,489 dollars. Both arrive with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, a figure that is not low, but considering the price it could have been higher. Of course, there are models with 16 GB of RAM and a maximum of 1 TB of internal memory, in case more space is needed.
This makes This product is not even remotely designed for the general public.just like the other tablets that the Korean company has in its catalog. The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is a huge tablet, literally and figuratively, and its target audience is one who has no problem paying a premium price because they’re going to get high performance from it.
It’s huge
What’s most striking about the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is its size. This is what you should use a screen larger than 14 inches. In the hand it is a little heavy, with its 718 grams, but we are almost in the realm of laptops, in which the weight is greater despite the fact that they have more components, such as the keyboard.
Yes indeed, The thickness is tiny and it is 5.4mm We can say that it is one of the best devices in this category. Despite this, it has high-level hardware. Among them, the four speakers stand out, with decent but not scandalous sound, a microSD slot or two front cameras and as many rear cameras, with a design clearly inspired by the company’s cell phones, although in this case the bands of the antennas attract much more attention.
The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is water and dust resistant thanks to its IP68 resistance, and includes a magnetic system for charging the pencil in the rear area. What would have been appreciated is a case, but not like those for cell phones but rather to be able to transport it from one place to another. It’s almost mandatory to have something like this if you want to take the tablet outside the house, since its thinness makes carrying it alone in a backpack a bit risky.
Performance and cameras
One of the most notable changes this year was the choice of processor. Samsung leaves Qualcomm aside and relies on MediaTek. The chosen chipset is MediaTek 9300+a high-end processor placed just below the MediaTek 9400 brought for example by the new VIVO X200 series.
This change could be considered controversial, but Samsung responded to the criticism by stating that Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra gets 18% performance improvement over Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra; a 28% improvement in graphics performance and a 14% improvement in locally running AI.
In the use we gave it, we did not notice any type of lagor problem, and we used it for gaming, drawing, multitasking and much more. It’s true that it’s not the most powerful experiment we’ve tried, but it’s one of those that gave us the best performance.
When it comes to connectivity, Samsung has opted for the best. In this model we have 5G, although the basic version is only WiFi. We have GPS, Wifi 7, Bluetooth 5.3 although we don’t have infrared or NFC. However, both sensors are completely dispensable on a tablet.
As for the cameras, there’s not much to say. We all know that tablets aren’t the best devices for taking photos, especially if they’re this size. Still, there are times when it is necessary to scan documents, make a video call, etc. The main sensor is 13 Mpx and the ultra wide angle is 8 Mpx at the back. In front of us are not one camera, but twothe main 12 Mpx and another ultra wide angle of the same resolution. The photographic quality is correct for what is going to be requested.
Screen and autonomy
The screen of this tablet is large. huge. Giant. Nothing less than 14.6 inches with OLED technologymaking it a perfect canvas for design, but also for working with multiple windows or viewing multimedia content. Even from some distance it could be used as a sort of small TV. Not so long ago, 14-inch televisions were common in Spanish homes.
This screen diagonal It’s already close to the size of some laptopswhich invites you to always use it with both hands. On the right side of the screen (taking into account that the cameras are in the upper area) we have a fingerprint sensor under the screen although there is also facial unlock.
The quality of the panel is undeniable, with a resolution 2960 x 1848 (WQXGA+) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. He has a cWhat an anti-reflective treatment which is not at the level of the S24 Ultra but which is perceptible and appreciated, especially when used next to a window or a light point in an office for example. It’s not something that works magically, but it’s one of those features we’re already starting to ask for in devices of this price.
Regarding the battery, it must be said that Samsung has taken advantage of the space, and although it is a very thin device, it has managed to integrate a battery of 11,200mAhwhich gives us several days of use. THE fast charging is 45WOK for a Samsung, but it will take us a while to fill such a big battery. We have a charger of this power because none comes in the box.
Interface
Samsung has bet on artificial intelligence in its products throughout 2024. It did so with the S24 series, when they presented Galaxy AI, but also with the foldables, where they announced new functions with the One UI 6.1.1 update. This is the version of the system that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, running Android 14. And it will have 7 years of updates.
The same thing that happened with the S24 FE happened here. Samsung doesn’t have Android 15 ready yet and will surely save it for next year, so the S25 series will be the first phones to have it as standard. Despite this, the use of the interface is greatand Samsung’s integration with Windows computers, with its mobile phones, watches and accessories, is incredible. This is one of the advantages of their tablets which integrate extremely smoothly into their ecosystem.
Artificial intelligence shines here even more than on cell phones when it comes to drawing and edit photos, due to its screen size and the fact that the S-Pen is included in the retail box. We have already talked about it in the analysis of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but with more than 14 inches the feeling is different. Of course, other AI functions, like translation, may be less used, but they are also available.
Should I buy it?
Samsung has in its catalog a product designed to compete with tablets like the latest iPad Pro. This shows us the type of buyer who might be interested in this device. Is it expensive? No Is it expensive? Certainly. And that means that whoever is going to buy it has to think carefully before, unless he doesn’t care about money.
But objectively, this tablet is one of the best that can be found on Android, if not the best, in particular because of Samsung’s software, the integration with computers, cell phones and other products and its policy of update. East a tablet for a few, but those will surely not regret buying it.
