I am pleasantly and officially surprised. I was already very happy when I first saw My Citizen Folder, an application from the Spanish government that summarized a large amount of documentation in one place and comfortably from the iPhone. Then I was afraid that this application would be forgotten, but fortunately I was wrong.
My Citizen File has been updated and added even more features, making it even easier to access data that would otherwise have required several hours of bureaucracy and visits to administrative offices. And that’s what leads me to recommend it more than ever in iOS 17.
Residence history and registration certificates
We have several new features to talk about, starting with a new section from which we can see a history of the municipalities of residence in which we have been registered. This lists all the cities we’ve lived in from 1996 to the present, and if you’ve signed up for Relocations, it’s a good way to remember where you lived in a specific year.
We don’t leave the registers: My Citizen Folder is now able to generate us registration certificates with annex valid in the European Union. And you can generate them in the language of your choice, perfect for showing where you have lived in other countries’ bureaucracies. In addition, if you are a top athlete, you can also see your condition sheet as such.
And by the way, you may not have realized it but there is now a version of the application suitable for iPads. To be able to clearly see the documents and certificates that we generate with My Citizen Folder, it’s perfect.
Here’s how to configure your notifications for procedures with notifications
For all notifications of procedures such as the renewal of the DNI or passport, you can now configure notifications via push notifications to not forget. You can even set alerts for ITV, if you have a vehicle and a driving license. You can do it with these steps:
- On the main screen of My Citizen Folder, after logging in, click “Settings” in the lower right corner.
- Click the “Notification Settings” button:
There you will access a series of options to activate the app’s push notifications for procedures that you will need to carry out in the future. You can also configure email alerts, and a double alert on your mobile so the “it happened to me” excuse is worthless.
Remember: you can download My Citizen Folder completely free from the App Store. Being a public administration, it does not include advertisements (beyond the government’s own notices) or additional payments. The only requirement is to have iOS 13 or later, and ideally to have a digital certificate or the Cl@ve system to be able to connect easily.
