Learn how to save battery when using Google Maps with a few simple tricks you can set up in minutes.
Google Maps is one of best map apps you can download and one of the most used. But it is also one of main causes of overconsumption of the battery that our smartphone can have. It is an application that needs a lot of resources and therefore consumes a lot of battery.
However, there are some Google Maps tricks that can you help us to make the app consume less battery. Something that can be essential when we travel and need Google Maps to reach our destination.
1. Use Dark Mode
Use the dark mode, as a rule, always reduces battery consumption
- Enter the google maps app.

2. Use Google Maps offline

Google Maps is an app that needs to locate us to work properly, but that doesn’t mean it can locate us when the app is not in use. This can consume a lot of battery and it is an option that we can modify:
- Come into Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Now press Location.
- Research Google Maps and select When using the app.
4. Update Google Maps to the Latest Version
This is something basic that applies to any application, normally the latest versions of each application are better optimized and consume less resources and battery. SO, go to the App Store and check that Google Maps does not have a newer version. And, if you have it, update the app.
5. Disable Google Maps Background Refresh
Background updating allows Google Maps to continue working and collecting data even when the app is not open, draining the battery. This is something we can control from the settings by following these steps:

- Press on background update.
- Turn off the Google Maps switch.
6. Remove Google Maps Widget
