Boston Dynamics’ robots have attracted a lot of attention in recent years, and it’s no wonder: its famous human-shaped robot can even do somersaults in the air. The company also has a dog-shaped robot for businesses that can move easily on all types of surfaces.
In recent years, different initiatives have emerged from companies that have launched their own robot dogs aimed at the end consumer, such as Xiaomi’s CyberDog 2. Another company that is betting on this concept is Tecno, a Chinese company that took inspiration from the German Shepherd to create its own robot dog.
Tecno’s robot dog is able to respond to different voice commands
Tecno is part of Transsion, a China-based conglomerate focused on the marketing of mobile phones and home appliances, which also includes Infinix. Although it is a little-known company, Transsion has experienced significant growth in recent years and Tecno’s arrival in Europe is becoming increasingly noisy.
Now that we have a little background on the company, let’s get back to what we were talking about: Tecno’s robot dog. Its trade name is Dynamic 1 and it’s a dog-shaped robot that generated a lot of interest at this year’s Mobile World Congress, where we got to see how it works.
The Tecno robot is capable of imitating the behavior of a real dog: it can go up and down stairs, jump and even shake its paw. It was designed to interact with humans, so can respond to different voice commands thanks to AI (it has four microphones to listen to our commands).
The robot is able to detect obstacles and maintain balance thanks to the various integrated sensors. Like other similar robots, we can control it from mobile or using a remote control. One of the options that the application offers us is to capture images of the robot.
If we focus on the essentials technical characteristics From the Tecno robot, Dynamic 1 has inside an eight-core processor, binocular sensors and infrared sensors. As we saw during its presentation at the Mobile World Congress, it integrates a 15,000 mAh battery capable of offering up to 90 minutes of autonomy.
At this point it is important to keep in mind that at the moment there is no official information on its price and availability, so we will have to wait to find out more.
