We sometimes forget, but the main use of a mobile phone should be to make and receive calls to stay in touch with others. Many of you may not even use them (me very few) because WhatsApp or Telegram are there, but there are people who depend on phone calls.
It’s a nuisance to lose this basic function, and that’s precisely what seems to have happened with a bug that affects users of certain Motorola models after an update. At the moment it is a very localized problem, but we will see what is happening, what the company says and, above all, how to try to solve it. And this is something that can apply to any mobile phone if you find yourself in a similar situation and you don’t know what to do.
Unable to make or receive calls
On the Lenovo forums (Motorola is part of Lenovo) several users reported that they cannot make or receive calls after one of the latest security versions of Android, specifically S1SUS32.73-112-2-7.
There are two threads (one for the Motorola Edge 30 Neo and another for the Motorola Moto G82) that have been filled with dozens of comments from users having the same issue after the update. They have tried different mobiles with this SIM card and everything is fineso the ball appears to be on the roof of the terminal.
José Manuel, a web reader, warned us, so we started following the topic and we contacted Motorola Europe to see if they could give us any additional information or their views on this. The answer is:
“From Motorola, we are gathering information and performing tests to identify this potential issue and provide a solution to affected users as soon as possible.”
The forums support team also tries to collect the information (using the IMEI of the terminals concerned) to find the problem.
The temporary solution to the call error on Motorola mobiles
Now well, waiting for the corresponding patchyou need to find a solution and, as several users report in the company forums, it happens to change the networks of the terminal.
Instead of keeping the 4/5G network, you have to switch to the 3G network. It’s annoying because you lose a lot in browsing speed and high definition multimedia consumption, but it seems to be the temporary solution to be able to use the mobile… well, like a telephone. You can do this in the ‘Networks and Internet’ section of your mobile phone
On Motorola’s support page, there’s a more generic solution if the phone has a signal, but you can’t make calls. We leave you below, although apparently linked to a security update from Google, surely this system does not work:
- Turn off the phone and turn it back on.
- Clear the cache of the “Phone” application.
- Use safe mode to see if an app is interfering with the ability to make calls.
- Check if there is a software update.
We know this is a very localized problem, but We will be attentive to the movements of the company focused on fixing this error.
