Carlos Balsalobre has always been dedicated to the academic branch of sports sciences, a discipline in which he obtained his doctorate and began to study biomechanics, performance… In his daily life he needed complex and expensive machines to be able to measure the performance of athletes, but the launch of the iPhone 5s almost nine years ago, which for the first time presented slow motion, it made him think that it might be possible to integrate the elementary technology of these machines into a mobile devicemuch cheaper, widespread, versatile and portable.
He set to work and after verifying that the prices he was being asked to have third parties develop his idea were unaffordable, he ended up learning to program himself
In this interview, Carlos tells us about the challenges he has faced, how he has evolved over the eight years he has developed and certain aspects of programming beyond code, such as monetization. For example, he explains that his apps always had a one-time payment until he merged the functionality of all of them into one, already under a subscription model, even on the recommendation of Apple itself at the era.
42 minutes where we can take inspiration from someone who went from zero programming knowledge to eight apps on the App Store, where he also gives advice to anyone who’s ever felt the need to learn SwiftUI and finish their first application.
