September arrives and with it one of the most important industry events of the year: the presentation of a new iPhone. In this 2022, it is the turn of the iPhone 14, from which we expect important developments in terms of design and material, but not to the point of being a revolution compared to the iPhone 13.
[El iPhone cumple 15 años y su esencia aún se ve en Android]
And what does it matter to an Android user? The truth is that it should matter a lot. Although the iPhone is no longer the industry leader (which is easily demonstrated by looking at the major Android launches this year), it is still the best-selling mobile in many markets, and continues to influence the entire industry.
Thankfully, the days of Android makers simply copying the latest iPhone are over, but that’s not good news for everyone. There are many people who just want an iPhone but with Android; and in China there is more than one unscrupulous manufacturer with no regard for intellectual property who is willing to offer just that. It is not difficult to walk into Chinese stores and find iPhone clones, and now you are going to find the new iPhone 14.
The fake iPhone 14
Indeed, although the iPhone 14 will not be presented before September 7, there are already stores that offer their clones. This is possible thanks to the large number of leaks that the device has undergone, which have revealed novelties such as the end of the “notch” in favor of a dual-drop design for the front cameras and sensors. And as we said before, design innovations are rare compared to the previous generation, which surely made it easier to create copies.
The YouTube channel Amazing unboxing has already managed to obtain some of these copies. Yes, a couple, because not one but at least two manufacturers have tried the same thing; and both fail equally. Although the two mobiles have certain similarities with the iPhone, it is enough to look a little to realize the important differences; To begin with, the gigantic edges of the screen, typical of a very cheap mobile and not of 1,000 dollars.
Of course, these mobiles do not use iOS, since Apple does not offer the possibility of downloading its operating system independently. Instead, they are Android-based, with a layer of customization designed to look as much like the iPhone as possible; this includes copying icons, fonts, and other interface visuals.
Things get worse the closer we look at the details. For instance, some of the rear cameras are fakeAnd they’re just there for show. And so is the aforementioned “double drop” at the top of the screen, since this mobile only has a front camera and the rest are simply holes in the screen with no other use than taking up space.
In short, we absolutely advise against buying one of these fake iPhone 14s, even if you are jealous of those who can afford the Apple price. In these price ranges, a cheap Android mobile is much better on all counts.
