Was it to look at my iPhone's time this morning and think: “Really? Another weakened week?” According to the AEMET, a real time with polar cold, snow and, as it could not miss, a good demonstration of precipitation awaits us. It is not that it is a drama, the rain is necessary, but let us recognize it: It's a discomfort when you have plans. And although we all appreciate water, nobody wants me to ruin your getaway.
These days, I don't stop looking at the time application of my iPhone. Time per hour forecasts, hoping to find this hole without rain to save the plans. Temperature, thermal sensation, wind … All this data is important, but there is one in particular which always attracts my attention: Rain probability percentage. A number that seems simple, but it is worth understanding in depth to interpret correctly what awaits us and to be able to better plan our activities during such a special week.
Which really means the rain percentage of the application
I asked around me What they think means this percentage This appears next to the cloud with the rain in the Time application, and I found more diverse answers: the most original is that 70% of meteorologists believe that it will cry. Others who If he will rain in 70% of your city And others that will rain 70% of the day. And no, it's none of these options.
So what does that mean? This works like this: first of all the current state of the atmosphere is analyzed using radar data, satellites and weather stations. This information generates an initial prediction. Then meteorologists create 50 additional scenarios with slight variations initial data.
This gives us 51 different forecasts for the same day and the same place. If from these 51 scenarios that it rains in 30, the application will show a probability of 60%. If all models predict the rain, you will see 100%. So when your iPhone marks 70% for Good Friday, what it really says is: “51 simulations with similar conditions, in 36 of them, it ends up raining at some point of the day.”
But … have you noticed that Percentages per hour are generally much lower than the general percentage of the day? It is not a contradiction. Indeed, the probability that it rains in a specific hour is not very high. But if several hours with the rain are repeated throughout the day, it is very likely that at one point, it will happen.

60% The probability of rain is concentrated on Friday afternoon
Imagine that for Sunday, the application shows a general probability of the day of the 95%, but when you look at the hour per hour, you only see values from 20 to 30%. What the application tells you is that, although in each specific hour, the probability is not so high, it is almost certain that at one point, it will cry.
And here is the interesting: you can put a Probability at 95%, but it only rains until dawn. Or in the morning, or when night arrives … This is why, when you see that it did not like throughout the day and you think that “those of time do not give”, it is possible that the prediction is correct. It rained, but so little or at a time so precise that you have not even noticed it.
How to use this information in your favor
Now that we know how the percentages work in themselves, here are three keys to carrying out your plans of Holy Week.
- Always look at ventilation for hours: 90% general could focus on only a few hours, leaving the rest of the perfect day for your plans.
- Pay attention to millimeters: 70% with 0.3 mm (a light net) is not the same as with 15 mm (a considerable chaparrón). These data appear next to the percentage of the Time application.
- Combine with a precipitation radar: In the Time application, play the card icon to see in real time where it rains and where this precipitation move.

Holy Week 2025: Meteorological radar day after day
According to AEMET data, Holy 2025 week comes Movidita:
- Holy Wednesday: A brutal thermal slowdown by polar air. Generalized rains, particularly strong in Catalonia and in Balearic Islands. If you have any plans, you would better be on a roof.
- Holy Thursday: Finally a truce! Although the rains will continue in Galicia and the northern points, the rest we will have a break. Ideal for planning outdoor activities.
- Good Friday: New storm, starting with Galicia and extending. Probably the contact plan B.
- Saturday and Sunday: Uncertainty increases, but points to “generalized showers”. Keep an eye on your application to find timeless windows.
How to use your iPhone so as not to ruin your plans
Configure weather alerts
Did you know that your iPhone can tell you sudden changes over time? Access the application time> The menu icon key (three lines) in the lower right corner> Notifications and activates alerts for precipitation and storms.
Add forecast widgets to your home screen
Add the temporal widget with time forecasts by time on your home screen. A quick glance and you will know when leaving. In iOS 18, the large widget is particularly useful because it shows more information.

Compare with other applications
Each application accesses different models The meteorological corresponding to different agencies, therefore, the information that can show you the time of Apple should not be the same as those of the Meteorology Agency of the Google State or Time.
After years trying to try different applications, one of those that gives me the best is that of Bing. Microsoft's time over the years has always been the one who has always succeeded me. I recommend downloading the Bing app and going to the Time section: it is very detailed and very precise, even above Apple.

Bing Time application
Your precipitation is impressive: she tells you In how many minutes it will rain and when it stopsIncluding the movement of clouds to see which area in the city is affected. A perfect tool for this holy week if you want to avoid wet.

Bing is a search engine trained by artificial intelligence
In the end, it doesn't matter how long it rains, holy week has this special charm that even water cannot deactivate. A simple look at our iPhone will allow us to find these opportunity windows Between the showers and adapt on the march. So, this year, when you look at the overheated sky, don't forget that we have technology on your side. And also, there are times when the best anecdotes almost never happen when everything goes as planned.
