There are still a few months until the launch of Android 14, but Google can’t take it easy. Since the release of the first developer versions of Android 14, the system has continued to improve and evolve.

We are now seeing the first results of these improvements in the first Android 14 beta. This is the first update you will receive if you are enrolled in the Android Beta program with your Pixel mobile, although it is still useless for the vast majority. of users who will wait for the stable version.
Android 14 first beta
Compared to the first unstable versions, Android 14 Beta 1 does not include many new features, although those it does have are interesting and affect both the functioning and the appearance of the operating system. Regarding the latter, Google continues to bet on Material You and the themes based on colors taken from the wallpaper that we have at all times; however, there were still parts that kept the old style, and that is changing.
For example, now the arrow that appears when we return to an application has now changed, and it adapts its appearance to the theme we are using. Therefore, it will have the same colors as the rest of the interface and won’t stand out as much.
Another cosmetic change, but this time with consequences for its operation, is in the sharing menu, which appears when we press the share button in an application; Whether it is a file, a text or an image, we can transfer it to another application, another account or even another mobile thanks to nearby sharing.
From now on, this menu will also be able to display custom actions depending on the context. The latest version of Chrome already supports it and uses it to show us more options like copying links or getting a QR code for the page we are visiting. These options don’t usually appear in the share menu, but rather in the app itself, which can be a bit confusing. From Android 14, apps will be able to modify the share menu and add their own commands; this should allow more apps to take advantage of this menu instead of using their own alternatives like Chrome does.
