A firmware to give all the freedom in the world
Via Engadget we know that Eve Systems releases free firmware that updates the socket Eve Energy, Eve Doors & Windows and Eve Motion with support for Matter; Available in Europe via Amazon.
What this firmware does is allow this kit, which until now could only be used from Apple’s HomeKit, to be able to communicate with any controller supporting this new technologylike the same Samsung SmartThings app or the imminent support that Amazon Alexa and Google Home will offer.

Of course, this firmware requires updates to iOS and iPadOS 16.2 which will likely arrive this week; so that you can participate in Eve’s program beforehand.
As with other Matter compatible products, it is intended that for the first quarter 2023 there’s even an app for Android, aside from the fact that most of Eve’s products will support that standard in no time.

Como hemos mencionado en contadas ocasiones, Matter llega como una solución unificada simplemente para no volver loco al usuario y se pueda usar desde Google Home un producto para el hogar conectado que hasta ahora solamente se podía usar desde un iPhone. Simplemente habrá que fijarse cuando se adquiera uno nuevo en que sea compatible con Matter y así dará igual que uses Google Home, Amazon Alexa o HomeKit de Apple.
