Artificial intelligence will change the way we interact with machines, in the same way that smartphones have changed the way we communicate.
One of the best examples we've seen over the years was Google Duplex, a technology that allows people to make voice calls to make specific appointments or request specific data.
Google Duplex Magic is able to perform tasks on the web
Google Duplex, a smart assistant that lets you do phone activities, now knows how to do it on the web, making reservations automatically.
One of the biggest limitations of this technology is the difficulty that can be linked to people who use different languages well. So far its use has been limited to English-speaking countries such as Australia, the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom.
Google Duplex arrives in Spain
But Google had made it clear that this service should be global, and we now got it in Spanish. Currently it will be used in a very limited way call businesses and stores to refresh their opening hours as a result of the plan to reduce the rate of separation imposed by the government.
This way, the system will be able to automatically call a business, contact the owner to request new hours when available, and update the tab on both Google Maps and Google Search.
This was announced in March, but Sundar Pichai did not specify which countries the technology will be used in, and we are pleased to see that Spain is one of them.
Google has made it clear that the only use that will be made in Spain for Google Duplex will be this, updating business hours for its services (Maps and Serach) while the alarm situation continues. At all times it will present itself as a call from the artificial intelligence system, without trying to confuse its editor by posting as a person.
In a statement sent to Venture Beat, a Google spokesperson said:
«We launched Duplex in Spain specifically to guarantee shop hours only during normal health conditions. Currently, this does not include making restaurant reservations or other Duplex use cases«.
