Google Contacts is one of the apps we use the most, even if we don’t know about it. At least in countries like Europe where the vast majority of mobiles are preinstalled.

It is the application that we use as a diary to keep our contacts, and which is synchronized with our Gmail account to have them also available on the web.

Being such an important app, it’s striking that it wasn’t until recently that Google equipped it with a recycling bin.

Avoid accidentally deleting contacts

As reported in Android Police, the app got the Recycle Bin feature, which prevents recovery of a deleted contact.

The operation is just as simple and obvious as in applications like Google Photos or in other operating systems like Windows.

If we are in a contact’s file and we click on the delete option, this contact will not be completely deleted from our account, but will go to the recycle bin, where it will take 30 days before being automatically deleted. Come on, like with emails in Gmail.

This way, if we delete a contact by mistake, or if a small child has started playing the game like crazy, we can go to the side menu, click on the trash option and restore deleted items.

If we want to permanently delete the contact, we can do it from the recycle bin, which moreover tells us from which device a specific contact has been sent to the recycle bin.
