Apple and Google maintain an open war between their two mobile ecosystems. Each has its pros and cons, but some things have historically been better in one or the other. In the case of Apple, the good integration of Apple Wallet with a large number of companies was always highlighted, which allowed having all tickets, tickets and membership cards in a single application.
It is something which On Android it is also possible to do this with third-party applications, and which Google Pay implemented some time ago, but not in the same way. With the transformation of Google Pay into Google Wallet, this change began to be deeper, being able to add more functions.
Furthermore, Some airlines and companies have also made efforts to integrate their services within this application., and it was possible to send tickets to Google Wallet from their applications. Google has now taken a new step, which will make this easier in other cases.
From Gmail to Google Wallet
From this year Gmail will be able to send reservations received by email directly to Google Wallet, without having to import them from the digital wallet application. This change will happen little by little, as indicated on the Google developer portal:
“Gmail movie tickets and boarding passes now appear in Google Wallet when a user purchases a ticket and receives a confirmation email in their Gmail. This integration is available for select global movie theater chains and airlines and We are working to expand it.”
As you can read, This new function does not have to be activated by the user, the application itself being the one that will carry out the process. What Google hasn’t confirmed is which companies are already working with the new protocol. Presumably, this will first affect theater chains in the United States, as is normal, and then those in other countries. What was clarified is that The ticket in question must have a QR code
The same thing will happen with airlines, although in this case it may be that thanks to conglomerates such as One Web or Star Alliance, several are integrated at once, making it normal to resort to airlines of other countries to travel to, which sets it apart from the experience. in cinemas.
Hopefully within a few months it will be normal to receive any type of entry through Gmail and it will automatically become a card in Google Wallet to be able to use it at the right time, resulting in a permanent automatic notification which facilitates the use of said cards. This is what the latest leaks suggest, but nothing is confirmed yet.
