- TrueDepth camera, required for Face ID, can be changed on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro without compromising security or privacy. Previously, only Apple could perform this type of repair.
- Now there is a new one Repair Assistantdesigned to solve part matching issues. This allows customers and repair centers to configure Apple parts, whether new or used, directly on the device, without the need to contact Apple personnel.
- Apple added new repairable modules. For example, the TrueDepth camera can now be set up on-device on any iPhone 12 or later, eliminating the need for a Mac.
- Apple can now fix the LiDAR scanner on iPhone 16 Pro models when repairing the rear camera module.
- The iPhone 16 Pro models feature internal design changes that provide “easier access” to unspecified components. * New support for used and third-party Apple parts. If a third-party part cannot be calibrated on Apple’s cloud servers, the iPhone or other device will attempt to activate the part and operate it at maximum capacity, while displaying the repair history in Settings.
- A future update will allow True tone on third-party screens and will offer battery status data in third party batteries.
