A new rumor, via Korean blog The Elec, suggests that Apple could use Samsung’s most advanced CMOS image sensor (CIS) on their new iPhone 16 models.

From The Elect, they have a very good reputation for their predictions about the Apple iPhone. They tend to be right very often and now their sources are reporting that Apple tests advanced image sensor from Samsung which could arrive with the iPhone 16 in late 2024.
Apple plans to make a major improvement to CMOS image sensors by adding a new supplier to its ranks. Until now, Apple only had Sony as its exclusive manufacturer of image sensors (CIS) for your iPhone. However, recent reports indicate a strategic decision to replace the Japanese supplier with Samsung LSI SystemSamsung’s ISOCELL solutions business.
The reason for this change in Apple’s plans for the iPhone 16 lies in concerns about the reliability of Sony’s image sensors and the need for introduce technological innovations in the iPhone 16 camera.
Apparently, Apple has had some problems with Sony over the past year. The Japanese multinational failed to meet deadlines for supplying image sensors (CIS) to Applewhich caused a delay in the launch of the iPhone 15. This is how we reported the news in late August 2023:

The new image sensors developed by Samsung integrate a more advanced design in three-sheet packs.
