Apple doesn’t advise you to put your iPhone in rice when it’s wet, that’s what you should do according to the company
If your iPhone gets wet, whether it resides in water or not, one of the first things that comes to mind is probably putting it in a pot of rice. However, this is not recommended at all and even Apple itself does not recommend doing this according to its own support documents.
There are many things you can do if your iPhone gets wet or falls into water, but Apple itself clearly recommends it. Putting the iPhone in rice is not a good idea. And he has his reasons.
Don’t put your iPhone in rice if it’s wet
For several generations, iPhones are waterproof. So in theory, if you get them wet, you shouldn’t have to do anything. But if you want a wet iPhone to dry as quickly as possible, don’t put it in rice.
Don’t put your iPhone in a bag of rice. Small rice particles could damage your iPhone.
As Apple notes, small particles can break off from the rice grains and get inside the iPhone and damage it. These particles could damage, for example, the charging connector from the iPhone or speakers.
Apple advises you to give a few gentle taps with your hand to remove the liquid from the iPhone holes, do not charge it for at least 30 minutes, dry iPhone with an external heat source, or insert foreign objects, such as cotton swabs or paper towels, into the connector. And of course, don’t put it in the rice.
