If these rumors are correct, the iPhone SE could be a real bestseller.
Apple could prepare a new third-generation iPhone SE, and its design would change dramatically. Contrary to previous rumors we had heard, which said that Apple would keep the current design with a 4.7-inch screen and a Home button with Touch ID, this new rumor ensures that IPhone SE 3 will be based on iPhone XR.
The rumor comes directly from the Chinese site MyDrivers and ensures that Apple’s plan is to use the IPhone XR exterior design for your new iPhone SE 3, adding a new unlock button with Touch ID like the iPad Air and the iPad mini. Something that certainly makes more sense than repurposing the design of the iPhone 8 like the current iPhone SE does.
This information ensures that Face ID could be maintained, although it doesn’t make much sense if the plan is to have Touch the ID on the unlock button. Additionally, the report continues to guarantee that the iPhone SE 3 will feature the A15 Bionic chip, it will have 5G connectivity and will use an LCD screen. Being the last Apple device to use this type of panel.
It has been previously said that the iPhone SE 3 will still be an iPhone 8, that is, a 4.7-inch display and a Touch ID on the front, but the latest rumors say that it will be based on it. ‘iPhone XR and equipped with a fingerprint reader. Sides, of course, the Face ID facade is not to be excluded.
MyDrivers ends its report by saying that the third generation iPhone SE will be launched in the spring 2022
An iPhone SE based on the iPhone XR makes sense
Previous rumors made little sense. I don’t think upgrading the current iPhone SE 2 with the A15 chip and 5G connectivity is a very smart option, on the contrary it would be betting on a design based on the iPhone XR.
The iPhone SE is a special iPhone, which always used the design of previous models but updating the processor to achieve an attractive price. It has never been updated while retaining the design, and it should also be borne in mind that at this time, IPhone SE 2 looks rather dated
The first iPhone SE was released in 2016 and featured the design of the iPhone 5s and the processor of the iPhone 6s. The iPhone SE 2 was introduced in 2020, using the design of the iPhone 8 and the processor of the iPhone 11. It is not unreasonable to think that IPhone SE 3 uses iPhone XR design and includes iPhone 13 processor.
We won’t have to wait too long to see this iPhone SE if it is presented in early 2022. What is clear is that, an iPhone SE based on the iPhone XR with A15 Bionic chip, Touch ID and a hole in the screen for cheaper over 400 dollars would be a real commercial success.
