Google Play has a new trick up its sleeve so that the lack of storage space on your mobile is not a problem if you use a lot of applications: the automatic application archiving.
The system is optional and will work as follows: applications that we have not used for a long time will be archived, keeping their icon and data on the mobile so that we can bring them back to life as soon as we reopen them
Archived apps are coming to Android
Google has been toying with the idea of archiving Android apps to free up space for a while now. We discovered it last year and its widespread activation has been pending ever since. Now Google has done the official app archive announcement and with immediate effect. It should be available from today, they say.
What is Application Archiving? Basically, the system is an intermediate point between the uninstallation or not of an application: the application is deleted but its data is kept
In theory we can archive apps as an alternative to uninstalling from the section Manage applications and the device Google Play, but also the store itself will suggest to activate the function when we have little storage space available on the mobile and we want to install a new application.
App archiving is optional and derives somewhat from similar features built into the latest versions of Android, such as revoking permissions for infrequently used apps. According to Google, only apps released as app bundles they will be compatible.
There benefit for users is that they will be able to keep the applications they use very occasionally at their fingertips, without having to uninstall and reinstall them each time. For developers, this should theoretically reduce the uninstall rate.
