Apple recently unveiled two new iPad Pro models at its special “Spring Loaded” event on April 20. The company will release a model with an 11-inch screen and another model with a 12.9-inch screen.
The company’s new tablets with the bitten apple logo have a lot of new features compared to the previous generation of iPad Pro products. They will arrive with the M1 processor of the MacBook, with a screen with mini-LED technology and many other improvements. But, unfortunately, they have a slight compatibility issue with Magic Keyboard.
As we reported a few days ago, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model was not compatible with the Magic Keyboard. At first glance, the iPad Pro does not bend properly with the Magic Keyboard cover. This is something that has exasperated many consumers, especially given the high economic cost of both products. Now from Apple they have come to the stage of clarifying the matter.
What about the compatibility of the new iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard?
Apple has published a guide to using the Magic Keyboard in which they clarify the issue of its compatibility with the new iPad Pro from 2021. According to the Apple company, the first generation of the Magic Keyboard is “functionally compatible” with the iPad Pro 12.9 -inch 2021. However, it may “not fit well when folded.”
Following Apple’s instructions in their article, the new iPad Pro has slightly thicker than its predecessor, about 0.5 millimeters thicker. This is due to the implementation of mini-LED technology by the Liquid Retina XDR display.
For this reason, the difference in thickness means that the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro does not fit perfectly when folded with the Magic Keyboard. The company explains that using screen protectors could make this problem worse.
“The first generation Magic Keyboard (A1998) is functionally compatible with the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th generation) with Liquid Retina XDR display. Due to the slightly thicker dimensions of this new iPad Pro, the Magic Keyboard may not fit precisely when folded, especially when screen protectors are applied. “
On the other hand, it should be added that Previous generation iPad Pro magic keyboard with 11 inch screen fits perfectly with the new 2021 model, because the recently introduced 11-inch iPad Pro has the same dimensions as last year’s model.
